Hicks Hits the Bricks, Returns to the Sticks

On Wednesday, February 28th shock waves hit the White House as Communications Director Hope Hicks, a longtime Trump confidante, announced her resignation, a day after appearing before the House Intelligence Committee, where she confessed to telling “white lies” for the President. The official line is that the change has been in the works for weeks, but the timing, coming on the heels of the potentially embarrassing disclosure that Hicks lies for her boss, seems ironic at best.

A former model, Hicks came to the attention of Donald Trump in 2014, after briefly working for First Daughter Ivanka’s fashion line. She joined the Trump organization, working for The Donald directly, and was first onboard for the presidential campaign; she has been Trump’s longest-serving political aid (the shelf life for most Trump aides is considerably less than a gallon of milk – Hicks is the fourth to serve in her current position in 13 months). As Hicks herself described it, in January of 2015 Trump summoned her to his office and stated, “I’m thinking about running for president, and you’re going to be my press secretary.” At the time Hicks, 26, had no prior political experience, but then, neither did anyone else on the campaign, including the candidate.

Trump is reported as viewing Hicks almost as a daughter, and she was with him for every step of the campaign, acting as gatekeeper, deciding which reporters he would speak with, and taking dictation on some of his Tweets. Hicks remained an influential voice in the White House, someone Trump looks to for comfort and validation. Trump created a position for her, White House Director of Strategic Communications, and she succeeded to the more traditional role of Communications Director with the departure of the short-lived Anthony Scaramucci in August 2017.

On February 27th, Hicks testified for nine hours before the House Intelligence Committee, asserting that she did from time to time utter untruths in the performance of her job, but refused to answer questions about her time in the White House. The next day she was gone.

Hicks is unmarried; reportedly the stress of her obligations to Trump caused a rift with her boyfriend of six years, but Hicks made up the deficit by dating first Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s initial campaign manager, and more recently, White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter, who resigned two weeks ago after revelations that he had been accused of domestic violence by two former wives.

Born 21 October 1988, Hicks sports some dramatic contacts to Donald Trump’s natal chart. Ironically, her asteroid Truth exactly conjoins his natal politics-ruling Jupiter at 17 Libra, while a pairing of asteroids Nemesis (undoing) and Karma (paying for prior bad acts) at 24 Libra, within orb of Truth, falls exactly atop his natal asteroid d’Arrest (Hicks’ centrality to the entire process of Trump’s campaign and her White House tenure could make her a vital witness in Mueller’s probe, perhaps culminating in charges filed against him; we should also note here that her natal asteroid Mueller at 2 Sagittarius aligns exactly with Trump’s own asteroid Troemper, potentially providing a vital link between the two combatants). These conjoin Hick’s 28 Libra Sun, making the role of nemesis a central, and fated, part of her.

Perhaps not so ironically, her asteroid Lie at 5 Cancer conjoins his natal Mercury at 8, making her a suitable mouthpiece for his “white lies”, indeed. Hicks’ natal Troemper, for Trump, appears at 5 Virgo, conjoined his natal asteroid Truth at 7 Virgo, and her natal asteroid America at 19 Taurus conjoins his Lie at 17 Taurus, squaring the circle and describing the rather confused relationship her boss evinces between veracity and falsehood, as regards himself and the nation.

There are additional chuckle-worthy placements, as a tripe conjunction of asteroids Achilles, Askalaphus and Hoppe (one of two variants of “Hope”), at 19, 21 and 22 Leo. These suggest a potential weakness or vulnerability (Achilles) stemming from tales Hicks (Hoppe) could tell (Askalaphus, noted for revealing secrets), directed via square toward a second grouping of points, comprising Pluto at 11 Scorpio, conjunct an exact pairing of Narcissus and Washingtonia at 15 Scorpio, reflecting a powerful narcissist in the nation’s capital.

Another combination reveals an unexpected, surprising career arc, possibly leading to some volatile outcome, in the conjunction of Whitehouse at 26 Sagittarius with Uranus and Saturn at 27 and 28 Sagittarius. Certainly there was nothing in Hicks’ background, training or experience that suggested she would ever work in the Oval Office. These fall across Trump’s natal Sun/Moon opposition at 22 Gemini and 21 Sagittarius, with his own Achilles, that fatal flaw, also in the mix from 24 Sag. Hicks is personally involved via the placement of her PNAs, Hicks and Hopi, both at 21 Virgo, in T-Square to Trump’s polarity. Also with Hicks and Hopi is Venus at 20 Virgo, conveying the stunning attractiveness that shunted her into modeling, and perhaps suggesting that the fatherly affection Trump espouses for her might be tinged with something more (Trump has, after all, expressed somewhat wistful sentiments on daughter Ivanka’s beauty, opining on more than one occasion that, if not related, he’d be “dating” her).

Hicks’ PNAs make a strong showing in The Donald’s chart as well. At 10 Capricorn, asteroid Hicks is conjoined Whitehouse at 4 Capricorn, establishing her as a central presence in the administration. This placement also brings Hicks firmly into Donald Trump’s Russian Grand Cross by opposition to his natal Nemesis at 16 Cancer, making her a potential agent of his undoing.  Hopi at 16 Sagittarius conjoins the Moon, conveying intimacy and a familial feel to their relationship; its concomitant opposition to his Sun creates a “mirroring” effect which reinforces Trump’s image of himself. Finally, Hoppe at 2 Libra conjoins Trump’s natal Neptune, perhaps supplying that “sedative” influence Hicks is noted for performing on the Commander in Chief, helping to calm his ruffled ego. It’s certain Trump will greatly miss her presence, and her departure adds to the sense of “isolation” in Washington created by the opposition of TNO Sedna to Washingtonia in his 2017 Solar Return.

Hick’s resignation is particularly well figured in the heavens. An exact pairing of asteroids Whitehouse and Nemesis at 21 Pisces is flanked by Mercury a degree prior and Venus a degree after, a perfect image of the undoing (Nemesis) of a female (Venus) administration official (Whitehouse) involved with communications (Mercury). This is exactly squared by TNO Chaos at 21 Gemini, showing another potential ramp-up of Oval Office disorder and discontinuity, and closely squared by Mars at 20 Sagittarius, implying there may have been harsh words exchanged (Mars/Mercury, exact) or a confrontation of some sort, despite amicable public statements on all sides (Trump is reported to have been very angered by Hick’s assertion that she lied for him). Incredibly, that pattern becomes a Grand Cross with Whitehouse/Nemesis’ exact opposition to Hicks’ natal Hopi/Hicks conjunction at 21 Virgo, bringing the whole incident home to her very personally.

All of Hicks’ transit PNAs are clustered together, with Hicks, Hopi and Hoppe at 3, 4 and 7 Sagittarius, just a spit away from Karma and Lie at 11 and 15 Sagittarius, with Mars leading the processional from 20 Sag. Of course this puts Lie, as the ostensible focus of the departure, in square to the Pisces cluster described above, as well as squared the transit Sun at 10 Pisces and Neptune at 13, another indicator of falsehoods being at the heart of the matter.

And here’s one more: transit Saturn at 7 Capricorn exactly conjoins Hicks’ natal Neptune, suggesting an underlying basis of deception in her career change, not only as regards her testimony about lying, but also in the perhaps disingenuous reasons given for her departure at this time. That’s an awful lot of active Neptune for getting the straight scoop on any issue.

Transit Truth at 21 Libra has just made its return to its natal degree in Hicks’ chart, perhaps prompting her disclosure to Congress about lying for Trump. It is also tightly squared Pluto at 20 Capricorn, evoking the devastating change in Hicks’ circumstances. Transit Uranus at 25 Aries is fast approaching its second opposition to Hicks’ natal Sun, the first of which occurred last August during a retrograde station, just about the time she gained her current job (recall that this station also trined her natal Uranus/Saturn, prompting another sudden career change, while transit Troemper at 28 Virgo for her sudden departure is in square). The next opposition comes in April, followed by a direct station once again exactly opposed her Sun in January 2019. One gets the sense that more shocks and upsets are in Hope Hicks’ future.
