The Trump legal team’s final gambit to derail the Stormy Daniels hush money case failed on Thursday, 15 February 2024, when Judge Juan Merchan rejected a motion to dismiss, reaffirming the trial date already set for 25 March.  The case involves election interference, in the paying of hush money to Stephanie Clifford, AKA porn star Stormy Daniels, and to Playboy model Karen McDougal, to cover up sexual liaisons with Trump, just before the November 2016 presidential election.  Trump, via his lawyer Michael Cohen, allegedly used campaign funds to buy Daniels’ silence, while American Media fronted the cash for McDougal.  Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg was the first to bring criminal charges against the former president, nearly a year ago, and will now be the first (but certainly not the last) to attempt to bring Trump to justice.

At the hearing on Thursday, Judge Merchan cut to the chase quickly, just moments after the 9:30 AM EST start time, stating, “Defendant’s motions to dismiss have been denied.  We’re moving ahead to jury selection on March 25.”  Prosecutors said Cohen paid $130,000 to Daniels and coordinated with the publisher of the National Enquirer to give McDougal $150,000, to suppress their accounts.  As reimbursement, Trump allegedly repaid Cohen $420,000 in several installments.  The charge Trump faces, falsifying business records, is a class E felony in New York state, carrying a maximum prison sentence of four years, and since this is a state-charged crime, not a federal one, there is nothing Trump can do to avoid accountability upon conviction, even if he were to be elected President in November.

A chart cast for the moment of the ruling in Manhattan shows the Sun at 26 Aquarius in a Grand Trine with asteroids Stefani 4624 at 24 Gemini (for Stormy Daniels’ legal name, Stephanie Clifford) and Karen 2651 (for Karen McDougal) at 25 Libra, neatly showing the focus (Sun) on the two women involved in the hush money payments (Stefani, Karen).  Karen is the only asteroid referent for McDougal, but given angular prominence as well by its stationary status (having turned retrograde on February 8^th) and a conjunction with the 1 Scorpio Descendant.  For Daniels, a number of asteroids apply, many in key positions.

Asteroid Daniela 107054 at 5 Taurus conjoins the 1 Taurus Ascendant, making her the most visible witness for the prosecution.  Asteroid Daniel 2589 at 29 Pisces conjoins asteroid Troemper 28130 (our celestial stand-in for The Donald) at 0 Aries and Neptune at 26 Pisces, representing the attempted subterfuge, as well as the potential for jail time, with Neptune ruling prisons and incarceration.  Troemper is squared Stefani and still opposed asteroid NOT 2857, currently at 25 Virgo, signifying roadblocks and failed attempts by Trump, as in the rejection of the motion to dismiss.

Asteroid Daniels 315088 at 15 Libra widely squares asteroid Donn 4689 at 22 Capricorn, another referent for Trump.  Between them, the squares from Troemper to Stefani and Donn to Daniels indicate the conflict between the parties, though not suing each other directly.  Donn is also on the 17 Capricorn MC, the focus of all eyes, and opposes a pairing of asteroids Nemesis 128 and Achilles 588, at 25 and 26 Cancer.  Nemesis represents ruin and undoing, often self-created, while Achilles refers to a weakness or vulnerability, an inherent flaw that threatens to destroy the individual.  Asteroid Stephania 220 at 27 Leo, also for Stephanie Clifford, opposes the Sun, placing her in the spotlight again, and forms a T-Square with asteroids Justitia 269 and Themis 24 at 21 and 27 Taurus, named for the Roman and Greek goddesses of justice, respectively.

The judge and prosecutor get in on the celestial act as well.  There is no exact match for Judge Juan Merchan, but with Merchan cognate to merchant, and merchants running markets, a bit of astrologic legerdemain leads us to asteroid Mercado 17089, Spanish for “market.”  Testing for viability, we find Mercado at 18 Aquarius conjunct Mercury at 16 Aquarius, governing decision-making, hearings and rulings, so, yeah, seems to work in this case.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is less slippery to identify, with exact asteroid matches for both names.  Asteroid Alvin 13677 at 9 Sagittarius conjoins asteroid Storm 12182 at 13 Sagittarius, yet another referent for Stormy Daniels, and these square asteroid Bragg 11150 at 10 Pisces, accompanied by Saturn (punishments, penalties) at 8 Pisces, asteroid Clifford at 4 Pisces (again for Stephanie Clifford) and asteroid Cohen 23735 at 7 Pisces, for star witness and former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

When we look at the trial date, 25 March 2024, we see much of the same cast in similar aspect.  Mercado at 8 Pisces is now poised between Damocles 5335 at 3 Pisces and Saturn at 12 Pisces, showing Judge Merchan (Mercado) as the looming threat (Damocles) of the law (Saturn) for Trump.  This grouping squares the combined justice energies of Justitia and Themis, now at 1 and 6 Gemini, hopefully signaling that justice will be served.  In addition, Saturn/Mercado squares asteroid Alvin at 15 Sagittarius, in a wide T-Square with Themis, showing DA Bragg (Alvin) as the enforcer (Saturn) of justice (Themis).

Bragg, Clifford and Cohen are still traveling together, bunched even closer now, with Bragg and Clifford exactly conjoined at 27 Pisces, and lead witness Cohen just a bit out front at 29 Pisces.  Bragg/Clifford is also exact with Neptune, making the possibility of prison that much nearer.  All of these are within orb of the Sun at 5 Aries, highlighting the proceedings.  The Sun also opposes asteroid Daniel at 9 Libra, and squares asteroid Stefani at 2 Cancer, guaranteeing Stormy Daniels/Stephanie Clifford a starring role in the trial.  Some level of disorder and disruption may be expected, with TNO Chaos 19521 at 0 Cancer in square to the Sun, implying possible confusion or bedlam.

A media circus might also be implied by asteroid Troemper at 19 Aries, conjoined Mercury at 23 Aries, ruling the media coverage – regardless, the first-ever criminal trial of a former US President is certainly Big News. Troemper is still bound up with asteroid Karma 3811, now at 28 Aries, in an extended conjunction that is in effect for more than two years, affording a protracted period for Trump to be held accountable for prior misdeeds.  This conjunction now resides at the fulcrum of a T-Square with an opposition from asteroid Kassandra 114 at 26 Capricorn to that ongoing Nemesis/Achilles conjunction, at 24 and 25 Cancer.  Kassandra represents issues with credibility – will the jury believe Trump’s version of events, or will he once again prove to be his own worst enemy (Nemesis), vulnerable (Achilles) to conviction?

Asteroid Donn at 9 Aquarius is semisquare Neptune and that gaggle of prosecution-related asteroids, perhaps leading to prison time, and also exactly squared to asteroid Manhattan 12464 at 9 Taurus, establishing the venue for the trial.  With Jupiter also here at 15 Taurus, squaring Donn, expect more of the “it’s all political!” defense, though Jupiter is an important ally to have on one’s side at a time like this, where Trump’s luck may yet save the day.

Judge Merchan’s estimate of the trial’s duration is about six weeks, with as much time yet to elapse before it begins.  So within a quarter of a year, we might be seeing a convicted felon as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.  And wouldn’t that be novel?
