98th Academy Awards Preview, Part Two: Best Actress
Unlike the Best Actor race, which shows a clear cosmic frontrunner, Best Actress could turn into a literal celestial catfight, with asteroid Kitty 9563 at 9 Scorpio at station, trine Mars at 10 Pisces, indicating potential feline (Kitty) fisticuffs (Mars) at the 98th Academy Awards, set to commence at 4 PM PDT in Los Angeles on 15 March 2026. Leading the pack are Emma Stone, Kate Hudson and Jessie Buckley, all of whom have impressive resumes for victory.
Emma Stone (born 6 November 1988, 9:32 AM MST, Scottsdale, Arizona, Rodden Rating A) has already proved her cosmic Oscar street creds with two prior Best Actress wins, for 2016’s “La La Land” and 2023’s “Poor Things.” Nominated this year for her performance as Michelle Fuller in “Bugonia,” Stone’s natal asteroid Nike at 25 Pisces, named for the Greek goddess of victory, is embedded at station, granting her a strong “winning” vibe that has been a workhorse for her in the past. This year, the Sun aligns exactly with that point on Oscar Night, reinforcing its powerhouse potential.

As well, her natal Sun at 14 Scorpio is conjoined by natal asteroid Victoria 12 at 10 Scorpio, named for Nike’s Roman counterpart, giving her extra winning heft; and by natal Pluto at 12 Scorpio, perhaps the source of her attraction for deep, intense characters. Natal asteroid Oskar 750 at 25 Leo squares natal asteroid TRIUMF 14959 at 23 Scorpio, a point named for a Canadian science research facility, but which acts reliably as its English language homophone, “triumph.” This year, these are activated by a transiting opposition from asteroid Victoria at 25 Taurus and asteroid Nike at 28 Scorpio, forming a T-Square with transit asteroid Academia 829 at 22 Leo (for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which sponsors the Awards), conjoined natal Oskar. Add in transit asteroid Emma 283 at 23 Taurus, conjoined transit Victoria, and asteroid Stone 5841 at 27 Gemini, squared the 25 Pisces Awards Sun, and it looks like a sure thing for her.
But it’s not. For one thing, Uranus is also part of the mix, conjunct Emma and Victoria from 28 Taurus, and with Uranus in play, nothing is certain. Shocks and upsets are his stock in trade, so pretty much anything is possible (though if you listen to the pundits, generally negative about her chances, a Stone win would be the upset of the night, so perhaps Uranus’ unpredictability will work for her in that regard). For another, Ms. Stone has some pretty stiff celestial competition close at hand.
Chief among these is Kate Hudson (born 19 April 1979, no time available), nominated as Claire Sardina in “Song Sung Blue.” Hudson has never won an Oscar but was nominated in 2001 as Best Supporting Actress for “Almost Famous.” Now, a quarter century later, she has a real shot at achieving her natal Oscar potential.

Which is substantial, with her 28 Aries Sun conjoined by asteroids Victoria at 24 Aries and Academia at 27 Aries, making her a likely candidate for an Academy Award (Academia) victory (Victoria). This year, the 24 Aries MC of the Awards exactly conjoins natal Victoria, with transit asteroid Oskar at 19 Aries also activating the solar stellium, if somewhat broadly. Natally, the Sun T-Squares Jupiter at 29 Cancer, bringing fame, celebrity and luck; and asteroid Hudson 5723 at 28 Capricorn, doubling down on the personal connection to winning an Academy Award.
Like Stone, Hudson has a potent activation from the transit Sun at 25 Pisces, which conjoins natal Venus exactly, arbiter of popularity and known as the “Lesser Benefic” for its habit of providing positive outcomes. And her natal asteroid Oskar at 25 Aquarius exactly opposes Stone’s (a fitting image of their rivalry) and is thus also energized by the transit Nike/Victoria polarity, with transit Academia at 22 Leo filling in the empty leg of a Grand Cross. Natal Oskar is also sextile the natal solar stellium.

Often, PNAs (Personal-Named Asteroids) representing the nominated roles will appear in significant aspect in the natal chart, and that’s the case for Hudson, playing Claire Sardina. Asteroid Clara 642, closest to Claire and etymologically related (both descend from the Latin Clarus, meaning “clear”), is embedded at station at 26 Sagittarius, from where it trines the Sun, and turned retrograde three days before Hudson’s birth. Role asteroids which connect to the Sun often provide noteworthy, acclaimed performances, with the solar connection allowing the actor to offer an authentic, genuine performance.
Natal Clara is squared by the Awards Sun, while transit Clara at 24 Aquarius conjoins natal Oskar. Natal asteroid Sardinas 336204, closest to Sardina, falls at 1 Pisces, conjoined natal Oskar at 25 Aquarius, while transit Sardinas at 11 Gemini squares transit Mercury and Mars at 9 and 10 Pisces, perhaps energizing (Mars) her vote (Mercury). A T-Square with transit asteroid TRIUMF at 9 Virgo increases her chances of success from the role.

Like Best Actor nominee Michael B. Jordan, Kate Hudson has a celestial marker at station on Awards Night, with stations signaling pivotal moments and critical turning points in a biography. Asteroid Kate at 3 Leo, turning direct the day after the ceremony, conjoins the 6 Leo Ascendant for the Oscars, which is itself closely conjunct Hudson’s natal Kate at 7 Leo. Thus, she is in the process of a “Kate Return,” a period of reinforcing the natal potential, which includes a square to natal asteroid Nike at 11 Taurus, establishing her as a “winner.”
Transit asteroid Hudson at 6 Libra conjoins transit asteroid Actor 12238 at 9 Libra, aligning Kate Hudson personally with an acting category, and this pairing forms a T-Square with an opposition to transit Venus (popularity) at 11 Aries and transit Jupiter (fame, luck) at 15 Cancer. Actor has also recently made its Return to its natal place at 4 Libra, from where it forms another T-Square, opposing natal Mercury at 1 Aries and squaring natal TRIUMF at 0 Cancer, suggesting a successful (TRIUMF) vote (Mercury) for Best Actress (Actor).

There’s one more performer who is at least Oscar-adjacent on Awards Night, and could take home the gold. That’s Jessie Buckley, nominated as Agnes Shakespeare in “Hamnet.”
Born 28 December 1989 (no time available), like Kate Hudson, Jessie Buckley has been nominated once before, but more recently, as Best Supporting Actress for 2021’s “The Lost Daughter.” And like both fellow nominees, she’s got a direct connection from the Awards’ Sun at 25 Pisces, which conjoins a natal TRIUMF/Victoria pairing at 23 and 25 Pisces, and sets off a T-Square, opposing natal Actor at 20 Virgo, in a wide T-Square with natal Oskar at 14 Sagittarius.
At the 98th Academy Awards, Buckley is also highlighted by transit asteroid Jessie 10464 at 29 Gemini, squaring the Sun, with natal Jessie at 24 Aquarius caught up in that transit Nike/Victoria/Academia T-Square, making a Grand Cross. Natal Oskar is also squared by the transit Mercury/Mars conjunction, so there’s a potential energized vote there as well.

As with Kate Hudson, Jessie Buckley’s nominated role as Agnes Shakespeare may be a key factor should she win. Natal asteroid Shakespeare 2985 at 19 Leo conjoins natal Nike at 12 Leo, linking victory with the part; Shakespeare is also sesquiquadrate the 6 Capricorn Sun, perhaps providing the authenticity that Academy voters value. Transit Shakespeare at 28 Aquarius conjoins natal Jessie and again taps into that Academy-Award-winning T-Square.
Natal asteroid Agnes 641 at 28 Capricorn conjoins Mercury at 25 Capricorn and Venus at 6 Aquarius, a possible indication of popularity (Venus) in a voting setting (Mercury). Transit asteroid Agnes at 8 Aquarius conjoins the 6 Aquarius Descendant of the Awards, granting Angular power and impact.

Two more actresses are nominated in this category, but their PNA referents on Oscar Night aren’t as impressive as the others, making them likely also-rans. Rose Byrne (“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”) is represented by asteroid Rosa 223 at 3 Pisces, conjoined Mercury/Mars and opposed TRIUMF. And Norwegian actress Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”) enjoys an exact match with asteroid Renate 575, which at 12 Virgo makes the same aspects in reverse, being conjunct TRIUMF and opposed Mercury/Mars. These connections are not insignificant (hence their nominations), and are shared by two other competitors (which also have additional links), but do tend to cancel each other out, being so similar, and are not in the same league as those mentioned above.
Which again, with Uranus active, is certainly not to say they couldn’t win! But my choice for Best Actress winner and cosmic champion is Kate Hudson. We’ll just have to wait and see…
