98th Academy Awards Preview, Part Three:  Best Supporting Actor

Like the Best Actor category, not all nominees for Best Supporting Actor have celestial referents to rate.  And like Best Actress, there’s no clear frontrunner among those who do.  Delroy Lindo (“Sinners”) and Stellan Skarsgard (“Sentimental Value”) have no valid asteroid markers, and so cannot be considered in this analysis.  Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn do, but since both are nominated in the same category for work on the same film (“One Battle After Another”), conventional Oscar wisdom says their votes will cancel each other out, leaving each statuette-less (but we’ll take a look at their chances nonetheless).

Which leaves us with Jacob Elordi, nominated for his turn as the Monster in Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein.”  Elordi is represented by asteroids Elodie 10726, Jacobi 12040, and Jacoby 25869, all reasonable approximations of his first and last names, and they show prominently in the 98th Academy Awards chart, set for 4 PM PDT in Los Angeles on 15 March 2026.

Asteroid Elodie at 21 Aquarius is conjoined by the Moon at 16 Aquarius, a reliable indicator of popularity, but also fits snugly into the T-Square formed by an opposition from asteroid Victoria 12 at 25 Taurus, named for the Roman goddess of victory, to asteroid Nike 307 at 28 Taurus, named for her Greek precursor, with asteroid Academia 829 at 22 Leo on its fulcrum.  Academia represents the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which sponsors the awards, and Elodie completes a Grand Cross, which now reads pretty effectively as Elordi (Elodie) wining (Victoria, Nike) an Academy Award (Academia).

Jacob Elordi has the best representation on Oscar Night, for his role in “Frankenstein,” with asteroid Elodi (closest to Elordi) conjunct the Moon, in a Grand Cross with asteroids Victoria (Roman goddess of victory), Nike (her Greek counterpart) and Academia (for the Academy Awards), and asteroids Jacobi and Jacoby (both for Jacob) respectively conjunct and squared asteroid Oskar

As well, asteroid Jacobi at 14 Aries conjoins asteroid Oskar 750 at 19 Aries, which is further squared by asteroid Jacoby at 26 Capricorn, doubling up on the Jacob/Oscar connection.  Jacobi is also widely conjoined the 24 Aries MC for the event, the focus of all eyes, while Jacoby is also broadly conjunct Pluto at 4 Aquarius, heralding transformative, life-altering change, and a possible increase in personal power, which winning an Oscar typically confers in Hollywood.

Born 26 June 1997 (no time available), Jacob Elordi has natal asteroid Oskar at 0 Scorpio, trine the 5 Cancer Sun, suggesting the Oscar may become self-defining (Sun) for him at some point.  Victoria at 9 Gemini squared Academia at 7 Virgo also images an Academy Award win, but what stands out mostly is connections from the transit sky to the birth chart.

Much more appealing out of makeup, Jacob Elordi’s natal chart offers hope for Oscar gold, with the Sun trine asteroid Oskar, asteroids Academia and Victoria squared, and multiple direct hits from the birth chart to Oscar Night transits

Natal asteroid TRIUMF 14959, a point named for a Canadian science research facility, but which acts reliably as its homophone “triumph,” meaning an unqualified success, appears at 24 Aries, exactly conjunct the Awards’ MC.  Natal Saturn at 19 Aries exactly conjoins the Awards’ asteroid Oskar, suggesting peer recognition (Saturn) in that setting.  Natal Jupiter at 21 Aquarius, bringer of luck and increase, exactly conjoins transit asteroid Elodie on Oscar Night, and natal asteroid Jacobi at 26 Virgo is closely opposed by the Awards’ Sun at 25 Pisces, putting Elordi in the spotlight.  Natal Elodie at 20 Taurus more widely joins the Awards’ T-Square of Nike/Victoria/Academia.

Put it all together, and it seems to point to an Oscar win for Jacob Eldordi.

But he has some celestial competition.  Both Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro have already proven their Oscar suitability with prior wins, Penn as Best Actor in 2004’s “Mystic River” and 2009’s “Milk;” and del Toro as Best Supporting Actor in 2000’s “Traffic.”  Sean Penn (represented by asteroid Sean 7051) and Benicio del Toro (seen as asteroid Toro 1685) not only share nominations for the same category in the same film, their cosmic credentials are also eerily similar, at least on the night in question.

Sean Penn (seen here in “One Battle After Another”) has already proven his cosmic Oscar street creds with two prior wins; on Awards Night, asteroid Sean is powerfully embedded at station, sesquiquadrate the Sun and squared the Awards’ Ascendant

Both asteroid Sean and asteroid Toro are embedded at station, indicating a crucial turning point has been reached for each actor.  Sean at 12 Scorpio turned retrograde five days before the Awards, Toro at 27 Scorpio turns retrograde that very day.  Toro is also closely aligned with the transit “winning” T-Square, and trine the Sun.  Sean is wide of the T-Square, but sesquiquadrate the Sun, grabbing its share of the spotlight for Penn, and also squared the 6 Leo Ascendant of the Awards.  Earlier in this series, we’ve seen how stationary asteroid referents for both Michael B. Jordan (for Best Actor) and Kate Hudson (for Best Actress) likely increased their chances of victory, but, as with their dual nominations for the same film potentially canceling out their votes, the dual stationary status for both on Awards Night may cancel out the cosmic benefit for Penn and del Toro as well.

Natally, Sean Penn (born 3:17 PM PDT 17 August 1960, Burbank, CA, Rodden Rating AA) has natal asteroid Victoria at 16 Scorpio trine natal Oskar at 14 Pisces and squared natal Actor 12238 at 15 Aquarius.  Natal asteroids TRIUMF and Nike, at 26 Leo and 0 Virgo respectively, are both semisquare natal Academia at 12 Libra.  Together, these patterns help to explain Penn’s prior two wins, and may evoke a third, if not this year, then at some point in the future.

Nike and TRIUMF also conjoin Penn’s 24 Leo Sun, and all fit into the transit “winning” T-Square on Oscar Night, with transit Academia conjunct the natal solar grouping.  Natal Actor at 15 Aquarius is conjoined by the transit Moon at 16 Aquarius, and natal Sean at 11 Leo conjoins the Awards’ 6 Leo Ascendant.  The transit Sun at 25 Pisces squares natal Jupiter at 23 Sagittarius, which promotes luck and positive outcomes, and rules such things as fame and celebrity.

Benicio del Toro’s turn in “One Battle After Another” has earned him his third Oscar nomination, with one prior win; asteroid Toro is also at station, trine the Sun, and participating in the Victoria/Nike/Academia T-Square on Awards Night

Benicio del Toro (born 12:10 PM AST 19 February 1967, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rodden Rating A) is less well-honored, and less well-connected.  Natal Nike at 23 Sagittarius widely conjoins natal Oskar at 0 Capricorn, but that point is also exactly sextile the 0 Pisces Sun and trine Academia at 3 Taurus.  So del Toro is also tapped in to Oscar gold, just not as dramatically as Penn.

But del Toro’s Oscar Night transits speak well for his chances.  The transit Sun at 25 Pisces conjoins a natal Venus/Saturn pairing at 24 and 28 Pisces, combining popular appeal (Venus) and peer recognition (Saturn), and sets off a Grand Cross with squares to the Moon at 23 Gemini (another indicator of popularity) and asteroid Nike at 23 Sagittarius (promoting victory), but it’s the opposition to a Pluto/Uranus pairing at 19 and 23 Virgo which is the fly in the ointment for del Toro.  Uranus is erratic and unpredictable, and Pluto can evoke devastating results, though the Uranus/Nike exact square could result in a surprising, unexpected (Uranus) win (Nike).

The transit Moon at 16 Aquarius is semisquare natal Oskar at 0 Capricorn, and natal TRIUMF at 26 Aries conjoins the Awards’ 24 Aries MC, with natal Victoria at 26 Libra opposed, in a T-Square with fortuitous Jupiter at 25 Cancer.  Both are impressive contacts, but perhaps not personal enough to be determinative.

Neither Stellan Skarsgard (left, in “Sentimental Value”) nor Delroy Lindo (right, in “Sinners”) has a cosmic dog in this fight, but with shocking Uranus tapped into the “winning” T-Square of Victoria, Nike and Academia, literally anything can happen

These various placements could contrive to produce Oscar gold for Sean Penn or Benicio del Toro, but in my opinion, the smart cosmic cash will be bet on Jacob Elordi.

Again, we’ll just have to wait and see…

I haven’t seen Elordi in Frankenstein, but I thought Penn was great in One Battle After Another! Looking forward to awards night! Thanks Alex!
