A Rolling Stone Serves No Time

We last checked in with Trump crony and political adviser Roger Stone eighteen months ago, in January 2019, just after his home was raided by FBI agents, and Stone arrested on seven federal counts of obstruction, making false statements and witness tampering.  It’s been a long road for Stone, who was convicted on all counts in November 2019, then sentenced to forty months in prison on February 20, 2020, after William Barr’s Justice Department attempted to intervene and lighten his prison term, prompted by tweets from the President characterizing his friend’s treatment as “horrible and very unfair” and a “miscarriage of justice”.

Stone’s incarceration was due to start July 14, but was superseded when Donald Trump commuted his sentence on Friday, 10 July 2020.  Short of a pardon, the commutation means that Roger Stone, for now, remains a convicted felon, but will never serve a day in prison for his crimes.

Each step of Stone’s legal saga was faithfully reported in the heavens, from his arrest to Trump’s rescue at the eleventh hour.  Most dramatically, Stone’s initial reversal of fortune, his literal “change of direction” occurred with his arrest on January 25, 2019, the very day asteroid Rogeria changed direction in the sky, turning retrograde in reflection of the reversal in Stone’s life.  At 29 Virgo, Rogeria was in a T-Sqare with its opposition to asteroids Justitia (named for the Roman goddess of justice) and NOT (a general disclaimer or disqualifier) at 25 and 27 Pisces, indicating that despite the arrest, justice (Justitia) would not (NOT) be served.  And at the fulcrum of the T-Square?  Why, asteroid Troemper of course, at 27 Sagittarius, our celestial referent for The Donald, the man who would in due course see to it that justice took a different path.

RSC arrest

Roger Stone exits the courthouse after his arrest, flashing the Nixon victory sign and a bit of midriff; asteroid Rogeria turned retrograde that very day, signaling a reversal of fortune for the Trump crony and political adviser

With asteroid Stone at 5 Sagittarius exactly sextile the 5 Aquarius Sun, and asteroid Rogers at 1 Taurus in square, it was Roger Stone’s turn to be highlighted, his “time in the barrel” (as he put it in 2016 when Clinton Campaign Chair John Podesta’s emails were hacked and released).  Stone is also exactly opposed asteroid Nemesis at 5 Gemini, which is itself stationary, having turned direct a week prior; Nemesis represents ruin or downfall, often self-created, which certainly seemed to threaten Stone at the time, albeit his gamble on Trump’s clemency eventually paid off.  Finally, Stone is sesquiquadrate to asteroid Themis at 21 Cancer, named for Justitia’s Greek counterpart, symbolizing the brush with the Justice Department about to ensue for Stone.  Rogers conjoins Uranus at 28 Aries, representing the surprise nature (Uranus) of the raid, and also the potential for Stone to lose his freedom (Uranus as well).

Transit asteroid d’Arrest, symbolizing Stone’s detention and the filing of charges, falls at 17 Sagittarius, conjunct Lesser Benefic Venus at 19 Sag and Greater Benefic Jupiter at 16 Sag, arguing for a positive outcome in the long run.  With Neptune squaring from 14 Pisces, Stone would undergo his own “dark night of the soul” before his ole’ buddy Trump came through for him, and remains in the mixed, muddled state which Neptune represents – neither exonerated nor incarcerated – convicted but without repercussions to his freedom.

RSC stone trump

Trump and Stone go back decades, with Stone performing the role of political mentor and chief strategist, the first to encourage Trump to run for president; their close connection is seen in asteroid Troemper conjunct Stone’s natal Sun, while Trump’s asteroid Stone conjoins his Ascendant, helping to craft his public mage

d’Arrest is also exactly conjoined Stone’s natal asteroid Karma, suggesting the arrest was well merited by his prior acts, and natal asteroid Rogeria at 19 Sagittarius, assuring us we have the right man for the charges.    d’Arrest also opposes its natal degree of 21 Gemini, an important turning point in its cycle with itself, representing reaping the potential of the birth chart for a run-in with the law.

When the jury convicted him on all seven counts on November 15, 2019, Stone is again highlighted, with a solar conjunction of Rogeria at 19 Scorpio to the Sun at 23 Scorpio.  Asteroid Stone at 25 Capricorn is sextile the Sun, traveling with Pluto (“crime”) and Saturn (“punishment”) at 21 and 16 Capricorn; but also here is asteroid Troemper, conjoined Stone from 26 Cap, the close conjunction indicating Trump’s “I got your back” stance, however delayed.

By now, Rogers and NOT are coming into an extended conjunction which continues through the remainder of his legal saga; then at 7 and 12 Leo, in square to Mercury at 14 Scorpio, the verdict (Mercury) against him (Rogers) will not (NOT) stand.

RSC trial

Roger Stone enters the courtroom for his trial, which featured asteroid Rogeria conjunct the Sun with asteroid Stone in sextile

An Exact square from Justitia at 16 Gemini to Nemesis at 16 Virgo would seem to argue for Stone getting his comeuppance, but Neptune at 15 Pisces with Karma at 20, forming a T-Square, shows confusion or uncertainty about the outcome.  Perhaps it is Justice (Justitia) which will be overthrown (Nemesis), despite her attempt to balance the scales (Karma)?  Neptune also rules the prison which Stone eventually avoided.

Presiding judge Amy Berman Jackson is also present, as asteroid Amy, which at 24 Scorpio conjoins the Sun and shares the solar spotlight with Rogeria; asteroid Berman, which at 28 Libra conjoins Mars at 27 Libra and squares Stone, defining their stressful, antithetical relationship; and asteroid Jackson, which at 21 Sagittarius conjoins Jupiter at 26 Sagittarius (the judge) and fills in that T-Square to create a Grand Cross.

RSC jackson

Stone trial judge Amy Berman Jackson is also prominent for the verdict chart, with asteroid Amy conjunct the Sun, asteroid Berman conjunct Mars and squared Stone, and asteroid Jackson conjunct Jupiter, opposed Justitia

By Stone’s sentencing on February 20th, 2020, NOT and Rogers have retrograded to 27 Cancer and 2 Leo respectively, with Rogers opposing asteroid Amy at 1 Aquarius, highlighting their oppositional stance, and NOT exactly opposing Saturn at 27 Capricorn, for the punishment (Saturn) that would never be (NOT).  Rogers is inconjunct the Sun at 1 Pisces, with Troemper at 7 Pisces, while Stone at 21 Pisces conjoins Neptune at 17 Pisces (for the despair undoubtedly felt by Stone as the sentence was handed down) and opposes Nemesis at 22 Virgo, still trying to do her “cut ‘em down to size” schtick but stymied by Neptune’s evasiveness.  Rogeria at 26 Sagittarius, at the fulcrum of a T-Square with Nemesis/Stone, seems to spell out ruin for Roger Stone.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson is there again, with Amy now conjunct judging Jupiter at 14 and 17 Capricorn; Berman at 2 Sagittarius squared the Sun and opposed Justitia at 6 Gemini; and Jackson as noted above, also exactly semisextile the Sun.

RSC sentencing

Roger Stone at his sentencing, with asteroids Rogeria and Stone t-squared Nemesis, and asteroid Rogers inconjunct the Sun

Trump’s commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence came with asteroid Troemper at 11 Taurus conjoined Uranus at 10; while not unexpected (Uranus), the move was shocking and controversial (other Uranus keywords), even among a few Republican legislators such as senators Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Pat Toomey (R-PA), who balked at its obvious corruption (Romney called it out as such, while Toomey defined it as “a mistake”).  This pairing sits atop Stone’s natal asteroid Rogeria at 10 Taurus, which is itself stationary, with Uranus representing freedom for Stone (Rogeria) and Troemper the agency by which that was achieved.  Uranus/Troemper is trine to the ongoing Rogers/NOT conjunction, now at 4 and 6 Virgo, showing his support (trine) for his friend (Rogers) in vacating his punishment (NOT).  These rest atop Stone’s natal Troemper/Sun conjunction at 0 and 4 Virgo, personalizing this to him further.

The Sun at 18 Cancer conjoined Justitia at 17 Cancer puts justice, even its miscarriage (imaged by Sun/Justitia semisquare Rogers/NOT), into focus for the day, all the moreso as the Sun exactly conjoins Stone’s natal Justitia.  A Grand Cross of Stone at 23 Gemini opposed Rogeria at 27 Sagittarius, squared Nemesis at 23 Virgo opposed Neptune at 20 Pisces, shows Roger Stone oozing out (Neptune) from his well-earned ruin (Nemesis), as retribution (Nemesis also) slips away (Neptune).

RSC grin

Roger Stone’s ‘cat who ate the canary’ grin says it all, knowing that his ole’ buddy Donald Trump will make things right for him, however hot it gets in the meantime

Lying, of course, lies at the crux of the matter; it’s what Stone was convicted of, essentially – lying to Congress and the FBI.  And we find asteroid Lie suitably placed at all these key moments.   In the birth chart, Lie at 26 Capricorn is exactly sextile natal Stone at 26 Scorpio, and together these form a Yod, or Finger of destiny, with asteroid d’Arrest at 21 Gemini at its Apex, foreshadowing a fated (Yod) arrest (d’Arrest) for Stone (Stone) involving untruthfulness (Lie).  At his arrest, it is Lie at 22 Aquarius which falls on the Apex of another Yod, with inconjuncts to Rogeria at 29 Virgo and Themis at 21 Cancer.  When Stone was convicted, Lie at 13 Taurus is in a T-Square, opposing Mercury/Rogeria at 14 and 19 Scorpio, squared Rogers/NOT at 12 and 7 Leo.    For his sentencing, Lie at 17 Taurus is an exact match for Trump’s natal Lie, tying the two men together, and opposes a stationary Themis at 12 Scorpio.  And when Trump commuted Stone’s sentence, Lie at 13 Cancer conjoined Mercury, Justitia and the Sun, as well as sitting exactly atop the US Sun.

So Roger Stone has his freedom, though he remains a convicted felon; one wonders whether that holds any meaning for him, or if, like his friend and benefactor, he considers the charges against him, proved in a court of law, just a “hoax.”  For Trump, however, a new low has been established for presidential corruption.  Former occupants of the Oval Office have pardoned friends and relatives, but no one before has dared to intervene positively for someone whose crimes were performed to protect the president himself.
