BacchusBacchus was the Roman god of wine, agriculture and fertility. He was the special patron of vines, including ivy and grapes, and taught the arts of viticulture to humanity. He was noted for his revels, known as the Bacchanalia, which were wild, drunken orgies, tokens of excess.

Astrologically, Bacchus is noted for intoxication, particularly via alcohol; sexual libertinism and licentiousness; and excess of any kind. It is void of the ritualistic, creative or sacred elements of his Greek counterpart Dionysos, and remains brutish in nature.
