Astroid Narcissus

Narcissus 37117

Narcissus was a Greek youth so famed for his beauty that he pridefully spurned all who sought to love him. The goddess Nemesis learned of his brutish behaviors and enticed him
to a pool in the forest, where he saw his own reflection. He became so enamored of it, not realizing that it was his own image, that he fell desperately in love and refused to leave the poolside, staring endlessly into the waters to see himself. At last he withered and died of starvation. Narcissus is the root of our term “narcissism”, a psychological state where the individual is solely focused on him- or herself, completely self-interested, or fixated on appearance or public image.

Astrologically, Narcissus represents exaggerated self-focus, an inability to see others’ point of view or consider their needs, excessive pride in one’s appearance, and rejection of others’ love.
