Never too early to dream, right? It might seem odd to have the first post of 2018 speculating about one of the last political events of the year, but it’s also the most crucial – at least, the most crucial we’re aware of in advance.
It’s the reddest of red states, but the red flowing in Alabama’s political streets today is the blood of the Republican Party. In a close, hotly contested race, Democrat Doug Jones defeated Republican Judge Roy Moore on Tuesday, sending political shockwaves through the country.
Or does he?
The Moore in question here is Judge Roy Moore, twice-elected and twice-deposed former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, who recently won a run-off primary election to emerge as the Republican candidate in the Alabama Special Election for Senate, to replace Jeff Sessions, who resigned to become US Attorney General in the Trump Administration.
