Alex's Asteroid Astrology

On Wednesday, 25 October 2023, the peace of a Down East autumn evening was shattered by gunfire which took the lives of at least 18, wounding 13 more.  At this early date (October 26), names of the victims have not been released, and police are engaged in a statewide manhunt for the suspect, 40-year-old Robert Card, missing after separate attacks on a bowling alley and a restaurant bar.  Card, who has been dealing with mental illness, has a military background and worked as a firearms instructor; his car was found abandoned in nearby Lisbon, but there is no trace of the suspect.  [Author’s note:  Robert Card was found dead, an apparent suicide, late on Friday the 27^th.]

Normally I would wait until further details are available to examine this story, but the number of victims would make asteroid analysis unwieldy in any case, and with birth data for the shooter, we have enough to compile a preliminary report.  911 calls about two shootings in Lewiston, Maine began to come in about 7 PM, and a chart set for then shows the terrestrial facts vividly portrayed in celestial patterns.

Although only officially labeled “a person of interest” in the case, police seem to have the right man in their sights for the suspect, given the PNA (Personal-Name Asteroid) placements resonating to Robert Card.  Asteroid Roberta 335 at 4 Scorpio exactly conjoins asteroid Rip 7711, also aligning with the Sun at 2 Scorpio, Mercury at 5 and Mars at 9 Scorpio. Roberta is the feminine version of Robert, for which there is no exact match; Rip functions as a death indicator, in the form of the acronym RIP, “Rest In Peace”, a common tombstone inscription; and the Sun brings focus or attention, for good or ill.  Mercury reflects the likely age of many of the victims, given that the bowling alley, Sparetime Recreation, was hosting a Youth Night, with a children’s bowling league underway.  Mars is the attack itself, the weaponry used, violent death, and the sports-related venue.

Asteroid Cardano 11421, closest to Card, appears at 19 Aries, conjoined asteroid Lachesis 120 at 21 Aries, named for the mythic Greek Fate who determines the span of life, a role performed by Card in this atrocity.  These conjoin the 16 Aries Ascendant, putting Card on the scene as the public face of the moment, and square Pluto, modern lord of death and planetary ruler of homicide, at 27 Capricorn.

Asteroid Roberts 3428, another variant for Robert, falls at 5 Aries, on the fulcrum of a T-Square with asteroid Requiem 2254 (named for the funeral mass for the dead) and TNO Ixion 28978 (named for the first murderer in Greek myth) at 1 and 2 Capricorn, and TNO Chaos 19521 at 2 Cancer (representing anarchy, confusion, disorder and bedlam, which ensued in the aftermath with some of the victims wounded not by gunfire, but stampeding people trying to get out of harm’s way).  Chaos is embedded at station, having turned retrograde on October 4^th, and this polarity is given angular force and impact by straddling the MC/IC axis at 8 Capricorn/Cancer.

The venues of the attacks appear in various ways.  Sparetime Recreation is represented by asteroid Falcone 60813, for the Falcon Road access to its location on Mollison Way, at 27 Aquarius, conjunct Damocles 5335, noted for the impending doom about to fall, at 26 Aquarius, also conjunct asteroid Gunn 19 Aquarius (phonetic match for “gun”), asteroid Karma 3811 at Pisces, giving a sense of fated interaction, and Saturn, also at 0 Pisces, ancient lord of death.  Asteroid Bowles 333057 at 0 Aquarius, for the bowling alley, conjoins Pluto at 27 Capricorn.  Bowles also opposes asteroid Nemesis 128 at 3 Leo (noted as a point of ruin or destruction), and together these form a T-Square with the solar stellium in Scorpio.

Asteroid Lincoln 3153, for the Lincoln Street address of the Schemengees Bar & Grille which was the site of the second shooting, appears at 17 Virgo, squared to asteroid Anubis 1912 at 13 Sagittarius, named for the ancient Egyptian deity governing funerary rites.  A T-Square is formed with the Moon at 22 Pisces, indicating the public spaces violated and the emotional stress inflicted on the populace, still under “shelter in place” orders as of this writing; and Neptune at 25 Pisces, ruling the hospitals overwhelmed by victims, as well as unstable mental states.

Asteroid Lewis 4796, for Lewiston, appears at 15 Leo, in a Grand Cross with an opposition to Gunn at 19 Aquarius, and squares to asteroid Osiris 1923 at 18 Scorpio and Uranus at 21 Taurus (ruling shootings) with asteroid Atropos 273 at 24 Taurus, named for the Fate who severs the thread of life at death.  Also here is Jupiter at 11 Taurus, offering fame and celebrity for the act, however dubious, and perhaps adding to the body count, with this incident far and away the most lethal in Maine’s history (the prior record was a mass shooting that claimed four lives).

Robert Card’s birthdate has been given as 4 April 1983 by several sources (no time available).  This further illuminates the circumstances, providing clues as to natal potential and transit activation. 

Two T-squares dominate the chart having bearing on the atrocities committed.  One is based on a polarity of Saturn, ancient lord of death, with asteroid Anubis (funerary rites) at 2 and 0 Scorpio, opposed Chaos with asteroid Lewis and Mars, at 5 and 0 Taurus, and 29 Aries, respectively.  This unites the theme of death (Saturn, Anubis), attacks and firearms (Mars) and mayhem (Chaos), with the Lewiston venue (Lewis).  The fulcrum is occupied by asteroid Roberts at 2 Aquarius, anchoring the pattern’s manifestation to Robert Card and making it somehow self-defining (with one’s own PNAs acting as “mini Suns”).

Astoundingly, this pattern was hit directly by the transit Sun for the shootings, which at 2 Scorpio conjoined natal Saturn exactly, and exactly squared natal Roberts.  As well, transit Bowles at 0 Aquarius also hit the pattern, exactly squaring Lewis and Anubis.

The second pattern is perhaps even more evocative of the circumstances of Card’s rampage.  A pairing of Uranus and Jupiter at 8 and 10 Sagittarius hints at some level of fame, celebrity or notoriety (Jupiter) stemming from a shooting or a shocking act (both Uranus).  This opposes an exact conjunction of asteroids Bowles and Roberta at 11 Gemini, again personalizing the energy to Card as well as suggesting the bowling alley location of the first shooting.

But the kicker is a truly incredible grouping of points in early Pisces – asteroid Cardano exact with Damocles 5335 at 2 Pisces, accompanied by asteroids Gunn and Rip at 4 and 9 Pisces.  Again we see a personal marker (Cardano), bound tightly with a point representing the unsuspected doom hanging overhead, about to descend, the theme of death (Rip) and the means used to produce it (Gunn).

Transit Saturn with asteroid Karma in tow had crisscrossed this stellium twice earlier in the year, and now, at 0 Pisces, was still activating Cardano/Damocles.  Both transit points are at station, giving them greater impact, with Karma turning direct on October 16^th, and Saturn to follow suit on November 4^th, for a sense of predestination (Karma) involving a death (Saturn).

As well, Card was experiencing an “Atropos Return,” with the deadly Fate returning to its natal degree of 20 Taurus, reactivating the natal potential, in early August and again in early November (at 24 Taurus for the actual shooting).  Natal Atropos’ connections include an opposition to TNO Ixion at 17 Scorpio, named for the first murderer in Greek myth, and asteroid Lincoln at 27 Scorpio, for the Lincoln Street location of the bar.  Lincoln is embedded at station, having turned retrograde on 22 March 1983 at that degree, making persons or places that resonate with the name of more-than-typical influence on Card’s biography.

As noted above, Robert Card’s body was found late on the Friday evening after the shootings, ending two days of lockdown for local residents.  While the immediacy of the situation has eased, his acts will leave scars that endure for decades.  But it’s just another day in America, with the Lewiston mass shooting the 565^th for the year.
