DeSantis DeParts

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ decision to suspend his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination on 21 January 2024 came as a shock to … no one, actually.  Following a dismal finish in the Iowa Caucus six days prior, with Donald Trump thirty points ahead of him and fellow contender Nikki Haley nipping at his heels, just two points behind, it seemed only a matter of time before he pulled the plug.  And with DeSantis polling in the single digits in the New Hampshire Primary two days hence, now was the time.

Of course, there may have been a celestial factor or two influencing the move.  Like asteroid Disanti 15630, our celestial referent for DeSantis, coming to station a week prior, a change of direction that mirrored DeSantis’ own.  Disanti had been trying to catch up with asteroid Whitehouse 4036 (for the Oval Office), its terrestrial namesake’s goal, but fell short, with Disanti turning direct at 4 Gemini on January 14th and Whitehouse following suit on January 24th at 10 Gemini.  Close, but no cigar.  Stations represent important changes, pivotal moments in the unfolding of events, and with both Disanti and Whitehouse changing direction as the 2024 primary season began, shake-ups in the GOP lineup were inevitable.  As well, Disanti turned with a square to Saturn at 5 Pisces, an energy that represents both the goal itself (the chief executive, or president) and a quality of obstruction, restriction or denial, the principle of withholding reward until the individual has proven his or her worth.

desantis out iowa
A dismal showing in the Iowa Caucus prompted Ron DeSantis to suspend his campaign; asteroid Disanti came to station the day before, signaling a change of direction

Exacerbating the situation was asteroid NOT 2857, which at 26 Virgo was not only at station, but closely opposing Neptune at 25 Pisces, in a T-Square with a cluster of Venus, asteroids America 916 and Osiris 1923 on the fulcrum, at 27, 25 and 28 Sagittarius respectively.  NOT acts as a general disqualifier or symbol of an inability (or unwillingness) to proceed, Neptune signals disappointment, and Osiris, named for the Egyptian god of the dead, indicates endings.  As for Venus conjunct America, in this company?  Face it, Ron – she’s just not that into you! Asteroid Troemper 28130 joins Neptune from 18 Pisces, revealing the proximate cause of DeSantis’ failure.

NOT doesn’t actually turn retrograde until the 26th, and with Uranus, noted for disruption and volatility, also at station and turning direct on the 27th, there may be other significant personnel changes in the offing, particularly if Nikki Haley does worse than expected in New Hampshire on the 23rd.  She may shortly join DeSantis on the ash heap of presidential wannabes, but before writing her political obituary, let’s finish the celestial post mortem on DeSantis.

desantis out signs
The sign to DeSantis’ right says it all; when this would-be theocrat withdrew from the race, stationary points well described the situation: Disanti (DeSantis), Whitehouse (the presidency), NOT (refusal to continue) and Uranus (shake-ups)

The Trump acolyte ran a campaign that was doomed from the start, rolled out under an exact Sun/asteroid Nemesis 128 conjunction on 24 May 2023.  Nemesis represents ruin and destruction, often self-created, also symbolizing roadblocks, obstacles, enemies and opponents.  Having this as the essence (Sun) of your campaign is not an encouraging energy for ultimate success.

That conjunction fell at 3 Gemini, and startlingly, Disanti’s station came just eight months later, at 4 Gemini!  Talk about celestial timing!  Moreover, DeSantis’ departure coincided with the Sun’s opposition to Nemesis, from 1 Aquarius to 1 Leo, exact the day before, so what was birthed in May came to its fruition (the opposition, likened to a Full Moon phase) in January, and not coincidentally, including asteroid Rone 8680 (closest to Ron) at 4 Taurus, on the fulcrum of a T-Square.  Pluto (modern lord of death) also joins in, from 0 Aquarius, another marker of transformation and often, disastrous outcomes.

desantis out poll
This late-breaking poll for the New Hampshire primary, scheduled just two days after DeSantis announced his retreat, shows the Florida governor in single digits amongst a field of three, prompting his exit; the Sun exactly conjoined asteroid Nemesis (self-defeating) for his campaign rollout, and exactly opposed it for its end

Pluto had a role to play at the campaign’s inception as well, again at 0 Aquarius, opposed a Mars/Moon pairing at 2 and 3 Leo, in a T-Square with Jupiter, Mercury and asteroid Whitehouse at 1, 9 and 10 Taurus, the same zodiacal region that Rone is currently haunting.  Asteroid Disanti aligns in an out-of-Sign conjunction from 27 Aries.  Mars/Moon suggests an electorate (Moon) that is hostile (Mars) to the idea (Mercury) of a DeSantis (Disanti) presidency (Whitehouse), Jupiter ramps up the energy, and Pluto affirms destruction.

In May, that Sun/Nemesis conjunction was squared to a triple conjunction of Saturn exact with asteroid Karma 3811 at 6 Pisces, pulling Damocles at 3 Pisces and asteroid Troemper at 1 Pisces in tow.  This indicates Trump (Troemper, our celestial referent for The Donald) as a roadblock, competitor or opponent (Nemesis), a threat or doom hanging overhead (Damocles), fated (Karma) to restrict (Saturn) DeSantis’ campaign for president (also Saturn), symbolized by the Sun on the day of its launch.

desantis out trump
Just out of reach: Trump seems to be pushing back on DeSantis’ attempt to claim the spotlight by taking the mic; asteroid Troemper with Damocles and Saturn squared the Sun/Nemesis conjunction of the DeSantis campaign, and opposes his natal Sun now at his withdrawal

Born 14 September 1978 (no time available), Ron DeSantis’ 21 Virgo Sun is currently opposed by transit asteroid Troemper at 18 Pisces and Neptune at 25 Pisces, with Trump (Troemper) as the chief agent of DeSantis’ (Sun) disappointment (Neptune).  Both are also conjoined his natal asteroid Nike 307 at 24 Pisces, named for the Greek goddess of victory, and squaring his natal asteroid Victoria 12 at 21 Sagittarius (Nike’s Roman counterpart), effectively squashing his potential for winning.  That stationing NOT at 26 Virgo conjoins both DeSantis’ Sun and his natal asteroid Disanti at 29 Virgo, and squares asteroid Washingtonia 886 at 29 Sagittarius for the campaign rollout, a clear signal that DeSantis (Sun, Disanti) is not (NOT) headed for DC (Washingtonia) anytime soon.

Another nod to Trump as the death knell of the DeSantis campaign at its termination is the combination of asteroids Donn 4689 and Anubis 1912 at 11 and 16 Capricorn, with Mercury at 9 Capricorn and Mars at 12 Cap in the mix.  With Anubis named for the Egyptian deity governing funerary rites, we can see the announcement (Mercury) that the campaign (Mars) is effectively dead (Anubis), crushed under heel by Trump (Donn).  Having this transit stellium opposed DeSantis’ natal asteroid NOT at 6 Cancer, affirming its power to stop the Florida Governor in his tracks, is just icing on the cosmic cake.

desantis out wave
Easy come, easy go: term-limited in Florida, DeSantis faces an uncertain political future after his presidential campaign imploded, but with a natal Venus/asteroid Whitehouse conjunction, the Oval Office is a cherished desire, and he’ll likely be back for another try

So, Ron DeSantis heads back to Tallahassee with his tail between his legs.  And Americans can breathe a huge sigh of relief, for this “Trump with Brains” is a spent force.  For now…

WOW, Alex! Amazing stuff

Laurien

Somehow this went into my junk email folder which I don’t check often enough. Sorry to be late to the party. Great analysis. I am fascinated by the way stations to Personal Name Asteroids indicate changes in life direction. This prompted me to look up when my PNA ‘Laura’ which was conjunct my Sun at birth goes retro again–end of July. I’ll be watching to see what happens! Thanks Alex for continuing coverage of the presidential election!

Pardon me, that’s when it goes direct. It just went retro at the end of January. Funnily enough, that’s when some family problems resolved and I’ve been able to ‘get back to’ things that were left on the back burner!
