“Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition” took on a whole new meaning on December 29, 2019 at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas, when a gunman’s six-second rampage ended with a single shot from one of the parishioners, tasked with church security. Two had already been killed and a third wounded when Jack Wilson, a local firearms instructor, shot and killed Keith Kinnunen, 43, who was not a member of the congregation, but was familiar with the church, having been given food several times in the past.

I’m ashamed to say it, but these incidents have become so commonplace that I typically ignore them unless there is a considerably higher body count. Otherwise my professional life would be nothing but chronicling shootings. What caught my attention here was the fact that the service was being livestreamed, and that the gunman had been taken out by one of the church’s security team, constituted after another church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas in 2017 led to a state law allowing firearms in houses of worship.

There’s no birth data available for the gunman or his shooter, but an approximate time of 10:57 AM CST for the incident is available from news reports (though the service was livestreamed, most of the copies have been pulled from the internet, and the ones I have viewed do not include a timestamp feature). Let’s run the chart and see what we get.

There’s a sharp focus on death connected to religious institutions making news currently, with the Sun at 7 Capricorn highlighting a cluster of points including Jupiter (6 Cap), ruling churches, newsmonger Mercury (0 Cap), and asteroids Requiem and Rip (at 1 and 9 Capricorn respectively), both death indicators (Requiem is named for the funeral mass for the dead, and thus has its own built-in religious connation, while Rip functions well as the acronym “RIP”, “Rest In Peace”, a common tombstone inscription). These are currently joined by points providing specifics to the story, namely asteroid West, for West Freeway Church, exact with the Sun at 7 Cap, and asteroid Richard, for victim Richard White, next door at 8 Cap. PNA (Personal-Named Asteroid) conjunctions with the Sun bring focus and attention, but that’s a two-edged sword; sometimes people become noted for misdeeds or tragedy, and a solar conjunction is not unreservedly beneficial.

Another stunning correlation inciting death in a religious context is the opposition between asteroid Church at 1 Gemini and asteroid Osiris, named for the ancient Egyptian god of the dead, at 5 Sagittarius. Both these points had been angular within the hour preceding the shooting, Requiem at the MC and Church at the IC, while asteroid Anubis at 2 Pisces, named for the Egyptian deity governing funerary rites, was on the Ascendant about 20 minutes prior, and still within orb of its current degree of 7 Pisces.

Uranus is not death per se, but it is the planetary body ruling explosions of all kinds, from the detonation of a nuclear device to the pop-pop-pop of a firecracker, as well as shootings generally. Here we see Uranus at its station degree of 2 Taurus, trine the early Capricorn stellium described above, accompanied by asteroids White at 29 Aries (representing both the town of White Settlement and another indicator for victim Richard White) and Texas at 4 Taurus, defining the state where the tragedy took place. Texas is also at station, having turned direct on December 17^th. Uranus is further squared asteroid Antonia at 4 Aquarius, one of two asteroids representing the second victim, Anton Wallace, a deacon of the church. Asteroid Wallace at 17 Aquarius was also unfortunately placed, conjoined the Moon at 18 (bringing him to public notice) and Damocles at 23 Aquarius (the doom hanging unseen overhead), in a T-Square with Mars, ruling violent death, at 26 Scorpio and asteroid Lachesis, the Fate who determines the span of life, at 20 Leo.

Jack Wilson, the parishioner who killed the gunman, is represented by asteroid Wilson, which at 27 Cancer is also part of a T-Square, squared asteroid White at 29 Aries (the town itself and one of the victims) and opposing a cluster of points in late Capricorn including Saturn and Pluto, ancient and modern lords of death, at 21 and 22 Capricorn, and asteroid Gunn, for the firearms involved, at 23 Cap.

The shooter is harder to pin down astrologically, at least in precise terms. There is neither a “Keith” asteroid, nor a “Kinnunen”, but there are several compound-named asteroids which begin with Keith. Compound asteroids are those in which the first and last name are run together, and they can be separated into their component parts and pressed into service for either first or last name (though their performance is not as reliable as an exact match name). In this case we have asteroids Keithtritton, Keithmahoney, Keithmullen and Keithnoll, all of which acquit themselves admirably as place-markers for Keith Kinnunen.

Keithtritton at 9 Aquarius conjoins asteroid Antonia, for Anton Wallace, bringing together the shooter and his victim celestially as well as terrestrially, and squares Uranus/Texas, depicting a shooting in Texas. Keithmahoney at 15 Taurus is embedded at station, indicating a literal “turning point” for persons who resonate to the name (it will turn direct on January 4), and is also squared Lachesis and the Moon/Wallace conjunction, making Kinnunen the determiner of Anton Wallace’s lifespan.

There are no exact asteroid matches for shooter Keith Kinnunen, but there are four compound-name asteroids beginning with “Keith”; all show prominently, including Keithnoll with TNO Ixion, named for the first murderer in Greek myth, and Keithmullen, squared Ixion and conjoined asteroid Photographica, for the livestreamed service

But it is Keithnoll and Keithmullen which show most dramatically, in a Grand Cross, with Keithnoll at 24 Sagittarius conjoined TNO Ixion at 28 Sagittarius (named for the first murderer in Greek myth), opposed asteroid Christian at 27 Gemini (identifying the religious facility affected) and squared Keithmullen with asteroid Photographica (representing the livestreamed image) at 23 and 28 Pisces. Filling out the pattern is asteroid Nemesis at 25 Virgo, that point of ruin or downfall; again, this is a role Keith Kinnunen embodied for his act.

And the world spins on; according to Wikipedia, there have been two other mass shootings in the US since this one, 434 in total for the year. When will it end?
