The Kilmar Abrego Garcia Case

By now, most Americans have heard of the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran who was illegally deported from the United States on March 15, 2025, in what the Trump administration initially admitted was “an administrative error.”  He was imprisoned without trial in the Salvadoran maximum security Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), despite never having been charged with nor convicted of a crime in either country, under an agreement to imprison U.S. deportees there, in exchange for payment. The administration quickly withdrew its mea culpa, defending Abrego Garcia’s deportation, and publicly accusing him of being a member of the MS-13 gang, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.  The accusation was based on a bail determination made during a 2019 immigration court proceeding, contested by Abrego Garcia.

Abrego Garcia grew up in El Salvador, illegally immigrating to the US in 2011 at the age of sixteen to escape gang threats. In 2019, an immigration judge granted him withholding of removal status due to the danger he faced from gang violence if he returned to El Salvador, a status which allowed him to live and work legally in the United States.  At the time of his deportation in 2025, he lived in Maryland with his wife and children, all American citizens, and was complying with annual check-ins with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

On April 10th the US Supreme Court required the US to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s release, ruling that his removal to El Salvador was illegal.  The court rejected the administration’s defense for noncompliance of the order, which claimed it lacked the legal authority to exercise jurisdiction over El Salvador and secure his return.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s Sun in a T-Square, conjunct Mercury and asteroid Justitia, squared asteroids Themis and Nemesis, and opposed Damocles with asteroid Washingtonia, prefigures the looming threat (Damocles) of ruin or destruction (Nemesis) from the US federal (Washingtonia) Justice Department (Justitia, Themis), which would become a Media sensation (Mercury)

And yet, Abrego Garcia remains in prison in El Salvador, some six weeks later.  The administration has resisted following the SCOTUS’ direction, openly flouting its authority, despite a later ruling that the law which the administration used to deport Garcia and 266 other men, the Alien Enemies Act, rendered the deportation illegal, as not conveying due process.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s birthdate has been given by his wife as 26 July 1995, which displays a pertinent solar T-Square depicting his present circumstance.  The Sun at 3 Leo conjoins Mercury at 1 Leo, potentially making Abrego Garcia of interest to the Media.  The context for this interest as residing in a judicial matter is portrayed by the conjunction of asteroid Justitia 269 (named for the Roman goddess of justice) at 9 Leo, and a square to the Sun from asteroid Themis 24 at 9 Taurus, named for her Greek precursor.  With both Justitia and Themis linked to the Sun, Abrego Garcia’s interactions with justice in some form are self-defining, as indeed transpired when he became the face of the administration’s immigration policies, for millions of Americans.

garcia child
Happier days; Abrego Garcia celebrates his son’s third birthday. Asteroid Kilmartin (closest to Kilmar) at the Apex of a Yod with a Saturn/asteroid Garcia conjunction and a Neptune/Uranus conjunction shows the potential for a loss (Saturn) of liberty (Uranus) and imprisonment (Neptune)

The potential for the Justice Department acting as an enemy or opponent is seen in the conjunction with Themis of asteroid Nemesis 128 at 11 Taurus, a point noted for bringing ruin and destruction (also squared Justitia).   The T-Square is completed by the Sun’s opposition to Damocles 5335 at 5 Aquarius, representing the doom or threat hanging unseen overhead, about to descend at any moment.  Initially, this refers to the potential for gang-related violence, injury, or death in his home state, but once Abrego Garcia committed himself to illegally entering the US, asteroid Washingtonia 886 at 4 Aquarius kicks in, substituting the US federal government (Washingtonia) as the potential source of peril.

Asteroid Kilmartin 3907 is closest to Kilmar; at 27 Leo, this point is exactly squared Pluto at 27 Scorpio, suggesting involvement with crime and subjecting Abrego Garcia to some form of power play, coercion or intimidation.  The level of criminality is unclear – it may relate to illegal acts committed by the native (such as his undocumented status in the US, or his disputed gang membership), or to crimes perpetrated against him (such as his illegal deportation, and whatever abuse he may be subjected to in prison).

Kilmar Abrego Garcia in the CECOT prison in El Salvador (highlighted); at his detention and deportation, transit asteroid Kilmartin opposed natal asteroid d’Arrest, in a T-Square with Mercury and asteroid Donn, energized by a Solar Eclipse, depicting his (Kilmartin) arrest (d’Arrest) by the Trump administration (Donn)

Kilmartin also rests on the apex of a Yod pattern, AKA “Finger of Destiny,” with inconjunct aspects to Neptune and Uranus at 23 and 28 Capricorn, and Saturn with asteroid Garcia 4442 at 24 and 26 Pisces respectively.  This establishes some predestined (Yod) restriction or limitation (Saturn) for Kilmar Abrego Garcia (Kilmartin, Garcia) on his freedom (Uranus), resulting in incarceration (Neptune).

Donald Trump’s personal involvement in the case is signaled by asteroid Troemper 28130 (our celestial referent for The Donald) at 25 Gemini, conjoined asteroid Karma 3811 at 27 Gemini, conveying a “fated” quality (Karma), in square to asteroid Garcia at 26 Pisces, denoting an adversarial relationship (square).

This amorphous, latent potentiality came into stark relief with the Lunar Eclipse of March 14th at 23 Virgo, the day before his deportation, which energized the natal square by creating a T-Square, opposed natal Saturn/Garcia and squared natal Troemper/Karma.  The natal Pisces points are conjoined by transit Saturn (punishment, restriction), the Sun (spotlighting) and Neptune (imprisonment), at 22, 25 and 29 Pisces, while a full-fledged Grand Cross is completed by transit asteroid Garcia at 24 Sagittarius, directly involving Abrego Garcia in real time.  The general timeframe also coincides with Abrego Garcia’s first Saturn Return, a period where we are often called to account for our prior actions.

garcia trump
Donald Trump seems to be saying “What ya gonna do?” in response to El Salvador President Nayib Bukele’s refusal to release and return Abrego Garcia; natal asteroid Troemper conjunct asteroid Karma squared asteroid Garcia, shows a fated (Karna) antithesis (square) between the US President (Troemper) and Abrego Garcia (Garcia); a transit Troemper/Karma pairing rests atop his natal Sun, sealing the deal in real time

Oddly, Karma and Troemper are once again conjoined, at 2 and 4 Leo, with their significance underscored by having both points embedded at station, indicating a critical turning point has been reached:  the fated interaction of Trump and Abrego Garcia is now fully realized.  With them is asteroid Justitia at 26 Cancer, the Justice Department, also at station (Troemper turned direct March 12th, three days before the deportation, Karma followed suit on the 16th, the day after, and Justitia brought up the rear on March 19th).  Karma and Troemper additionally oppose Pluto at 3 Aquarius, suggesting the illegal nature of the deportation, as well as the hellscape prison to which he was confined.  And all of this centers on the natal Sun at 3 Leo, personalizing it.

Transit asteroid Kilmartin at 9 Capricorn opposes natal asteroid d’Arrest 9133 at 10 Cancer, in a T-Square with transit Mercury and asteroid Donn 4689 on its fulcrum, at 9 and 12 Aries.  This signals that Abrego Garcia’s detention (d’Arrest) would be newsworthy (Mercury) and reiterates the provenance to Trump (Donn).  Natal Donn at 18 Virgo was also highlighted by the Lunar Eclipse, while the subsequent Solar Eclipse of March 29th at 9 Aries highlights the entire Cardinal T-Square.  Transit d’Arrest at 27 Taurus conjoins transit asteroid Washingtonia exactly, also conjunct Uranus at 24 Taurus, again specifying the federal government (Washingtonia) as the moving agent in this controversial (Uranus) arrest (d’Arrest).  The natal Kilmartin/Pluto square at 27 Leo/Scorpio fits seamlessly into another T-Square here.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s wife Jennifer (center) has been a tireless advocate for his release; a Lunar Eclipse T-Squared asteroid Garcia for his deportation was enhanced by the Sun (spotlighting), Saturn (punishment, restriction) and Neptune (incarceration)

At first, Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s deportation made no headlines.  But as reporters began to probe into the stories behind these men unlawfully transferred to foreign detention with no due process, Abrego Garcia became the Poster Child (quite literally, with placards protesting his deportation) for the incident.  This occurred as his eponymous asteroid Garcia came to its station, denoting prominence and major change or transition.  Garcia didn’t turn retrograde until April 26th, but entered its station degree on the 11th, as things began to heat up in the press and nationally, with a rising tide of support for Abrego Garcia.

On the 12th came the US Supreme Court ruling in his favor, followed up on the 19th by a stay on any further deportations under the Alien Enemies Act, which had been used for his arrest and removal.  On the 17th, US Senator Chris Van Hollen travelled to El Salvador to visit with his imprisoned constituent, and on the same day, Michael Coleman, general president of the SMART union of which Abrego Garcia is a member, publicly called for his release and return.

Remarkably, all these players in the Abrego Garcia saga are represented by asteroids which came to station in April.  Chris Van Hollen is represented by asteroid Christophe 1698 (closest to Christopher, his given first name), which came to its station April 6th, remaining at its station degree of 13 Sagittarius from March 24th through April 21st, with Van Hollen’s visit on the 17th.  Michael Coleman is represented by asteroid Coleman 11821, which came to its station April 18th, the day after his public call for Abrego Garcia’s release, which propelled him into the national news.  Incredibly, asteroid Coleman at 25 Sagittarius lies just four degrees from asteroid Garcia in the heavens, illustrating Michael Coleman’s solidarity with his union brother.

The US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is seen as asteroid Themis, named for the Greek goddess of justice.  As such, Themis represents not only SCOTUS, but all judges and judicial proceedings.  In its first 100 days, the second Trump administration has been hit with 220 lawsuits challenging their policies and actions; no surprise, given that asteroid Themis has been within spitting distance of Donald Trump’s 29 Leo Ascendant since early February.  Themis’ station came on April 17th at 1 Virgo, midway between the SCOTUS rulings affecting Trump’s immigration policy, on the 12th and 19th.  Themis left its station degree on April 25th, but remains conjoined Trump’s Ascendant through June 10th, affording many more opportunities for judicial smackdowns.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s case has gradually dropped lower on the list of the Trump administration’s most egregious offenses, as newer, fresher outrages displaced it.  But Americans have not forgotten, and support his return.  Republican lawmakers routinely receive harsh criticism of his treatment in town halls (when they are brave enough to hold them).  An Economist/YouGov poll released April 24th, just two days before asteroid Garcia’s station, shows 50% in favor of bringing him home, 28% against and 22% uncertain.  A Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll released the following day showed similar support, with 42% in favor of his return, 26% against, and 31% undecided.

For now, Kilmar Abrego Garcia continues to languish in his Salvadoran hellhole.  The best bet for a change in his fortunes, celestially speaking, would be June 9-13, when asteroid Garcia retrogrades over 23 Sagittarius, in exact square to the Lunar Eclipse which prompted his deportation.  We can only wish him well, and continue to keep his case in the public eye.

Fascinating as always, especially the asteroid stations. Here’s hoping Garcia is returned to the US in June, along with all the other people unjustly sent to CECOT. Even those who deserve imprisonment should not have to endure the conditions of what you aptly describe as a hellhole. Thanks for following these important stories, Alex.
