The Bezos-Sanchez Nuptials

Perhaps not everyone will remember where they were the day that the Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding redefined “conspicuous consumption,” but as these things go, the day was surely memorable.  Or perhaps we should say “days,” since the nuptial celebrations sprawled across three days in Venice, Italy, with pre-and post-ceremony festivities, though the actual union came on Friday, 27 June 2025.  It was then that billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the fourth-richest man in the world, wed his bride Lauren Sanchez, a former journalist, in what was likely the fourth-costliest wedding in history, with a price tag coming in somewhere around $55 million.  Just a drop in the bucket for Bezos, however, with an estimated net worth of $244 billion.

While the celebrations overall took on the air of a street festival at times, the ceremony itself was a private affair, attended by just 200 of the couple’s closest friends, including the Kardashian-Jenner family, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Usher, and Jessica Alba.  Held on the secluded, historic San Giorgio Maggiore island in the San Marco district, the wedding wasn’t a hit with everybody, especially the tourist-weary locals, who protested the apparent takeover of Venice by the super-rich, with threats of canal blockades, guerilla-style banners and uncanny Bezos mannequins that popped up across the city.

bezos invite
You’re invited! OK, probably not you, unless you’re one of the privileged 200 guests at the Bezos-Sanchez wedding; a Sun/Jupiter conjunction with asteroid Hera (Greek goddess of marriage) in tow indicates conspicuous consumption (Jupiter) of the highest order in full view (Sun) at this fourth-costliest wedding (Hera) in history; a square from Saturn conjunct Neptune says “beware, the fantasy (Neptune) is about to become reality (Saturn)!”

But the date couldn’t have been better chosen, from a celestial standpoint.  The annual conjunction of the Sun and Jupiter was in effect, with the planet of excess, wealth and extreme displays at 4 Cancer aligning with the Sun at 6 Cancer, placing a bright spotlight on the extravagance.  Close by was asteroid Hera 103, named for the Greek goddess of matrimony, granting her gracious imprimatur from 13 Cancer, and just a cosmic spit further was asteroid Fortuna 19 at 15 Cancer, an allusion to the vast wealth of the groom.

In fact, there are several markers of “wealthy match” in attendance at this wedding, some specifically identifying the bride as the one moving up in class.  We’ve already mentioned the Hera/Fortuna pairing; not to be outdone, asteroid Juno 3, named for Hera’s Roman counterpart, appears at station at 16 Scorpio, from where it trines Fortuna.  Juno embedded at station indicates a high-profile, “time-stands-still” moment for marriage in general, and as the anchor of a Grand Cross incorporating an opposition to Venus at 22 Taurus (also wealth, romance, and partner-oriented), with squares to asteroids Laurel 2865 (one of two asteroid referents for “Lauren”) at 14 Aquarius and asteroids Groom 5129 with Jeffers 1934 (for “Jeff”) at 14 and 21 Leo, we see the principals named as well.  In a final cosmic nod to the venue and the life-altering moment, a stationary asteroid George 3854 at 14 Scorpio conjoins Juno, defining the wedding’s (Juno) location on San Giorgio Maggiore island (with Giorgio the Italian version of “George”).

bezos kiss
Sealed with a kiss; Bezos and Sanchez steal a pre-ceremony smooch enroute to Opening Day festivities; asteroid Juno (Roman goddess of marriage) at station lies on the fulcrum of a T-Square with asteroids Jeffers (for Jeff) and Laurel (for Lauren)

Asteroid Briede 19029 (for “bride”) at 25 Capricorn conjoins Pluto, ruling billionaires, at 3 Aquarius, one symbol of marrying up for the female half of the sketch.  Pluto/Briede further participates in a T-Square, opposing Mercury (news) at 1 Leo, squared asteroid Venetia at 1 Taurus (Italian for Venice), pinpointing where that news was taking place.  Fittingly, asteroid Amazone 1042, for Bezos’ cash cow mega-retailer Amazon.com, falls at 20 Pisces, integrated into this T-Square by semisquare to Pluto and Venice, sesquiquadrate to Mercury (also ruling commerce).

bezos dress2
This impossibly cinched gown from Schiaparelli couture makes Lauren look more like an Etruscan amphora than anything human; asteroid Schiaparelli conjoins asteroids Sanchez and Midas, for this image of Lauren (Sanchez) in costly (Midas) high fashion (Schiaparelli)

Asteroid Sanchez 14613 at 11 Gemini conjoined asteroid Midas 1981 at 15 Gemini identifies Lauren Sanchez as the one about to experience the thrill of everything she touches turning to gold.  Sanchez/Midas also provides further color commentary, as the fulcrum of a T-Square with Mars exactly conjunct asteroid Geoffroy 12896 (another marker for Jeff) at 5 Virgo opposed asteroid Laura 467 (the alternate Lauren referent) at 9 Pisces.  This suggests a certain amount of sexual heat (Mars) for the couple (at least from the Bezos side of things), or perhaps just a propensity to squabble (Mars also).  Laura, by the way, is also at station, denoting a crucial turning point in Lauren Sanchez’ life, for which this union certainly qualifies.

bezos island
The wedding itself took place on San Giorgio Maggiore Island, with asteroid Juno conjunct asteroid George (English version of Giorgio), both at station, indicating something BIG is in the works with regard to a George-related wedding (Juno)

The cosmos obligingly identifies the roles in play, with Laura also semisquare asteroid Briede, just as Jeffers conjoins asteroid Groom.  A combination of asteroid Italia 477 (Italian for Italy) at 2 Aries with Saturn at 1 Aries and Neptune, also at 2 Aries, suggests the venue (Italia) for the fairytale (Neptune) event, now made manifest (Saturn).  But this trio in square to the Sun/Jupiter of the event carries a caveat emptor vibe:  an inherent clash (square) between the fantasy (Neptune) and the reality (Saturn) as the famous (Jupiter) couple settles into a married life which will doubtless be on full display (Sun).

An examination of the birth charts of the bride and groom do seem to portray a certain quality of destiny to their union, perhaps even compatibility, beyond the level of corporate merger.

bezos dress
Mr. & Mrs. Amazon – err, Bezos – take a twirl on the dance floor; both partners have a Personal-Named Asteroid in trine to natal asteroid Hera, presaging their nuptial union, as well as contacts between Venus and Mars

For one thing, both have Hera trine a PNA (Personal-Named Asteroid) representing their new partner, prefiguring a marriage between them.  Jeff Bezos (born 12 January 1964, no time available) has Hera at 24 Virgo (at station, no less) trine asteroid Laurel at 27 Capricorn.  Significantly, Laurel also conjoins his 21 Capricorn Sun and 29 Cap Mars.  The solar contact signifies someone who has great influence in the life or biography; Mars implies they have a strong sexual attraction (though it can also lead to fractious relations).  Hera is exactly squared asteroid Groom at 24 Sagittarius, which is widely conjunct asteroid Laura at 2 Capricorn, defining the role he just played for her.

Asteroid Laura also conjoins Mercury at 5 Capricorn, for a meeting of the minds, and is trine asteroid Briede at 9 Taurus.  Asteroid Sanchez at 13 Gemini opposes asteroid Jeffers at 12 Sagittarius, in a T-Square with asteroid Union 1585 at 12 Virgo, predicting their eventual marital union.  (Interestingly, transit asteroid Sanchez at 11 Gemini was returning to its natal place when the couple wed, reactivating this natal potential.) Unfortunately, Union finds itself smack in the middle of the forming Uranus/Pluto conjunction of that ‘60s era, here at 9 and 14 Virgo, and this could suggest divorce (Uranus), perhaps based on power plays, manipulation or coercive behaviors (all Pluto).  But in the meantime, it’s likely to be an exciting wild ride (Uranus) and a deeply intense, transformative experience (Pluto) for both.

bezos guests
Just a few of the A-list celebrities to attend the wedding; the day’s Sun/Jupiter conjunction also throws a spotlight (Sun) on the rich and famous (Jupiter); a square from Saturn suggests the guest list is restricted

The ultra-romantic wedding venue is seen as Venus at 24 Aquarius, conjunct asteroid Venetia (Venice) at 22 Aquarius, squared asteroid Juno at 27 Scorpio and trine asteroid Italia at 25 Libra.  A trine from asteroid Geoffroy at 1 Scorpio to Venus indicates there is some spark of romance there as well.

For Lauren Sanchez (born 19 December 1969, no time available), natal Hera at 1 Capricorn is trine asteroid Geoffroy at 9 Virgo, mirroring that nuptial connection of her spouse-to-be.  Hera conjoins her 27 Sagittarius Sun, showing marriage to be of pivotal importance to her self-identity.  Geoffroy is also at station, another indicator of a deeply impactful person in her biography.  Other stationary points in this general “hot zone” are asteroid Amazone at 2 Virgo (also trine Hera – when she married the one, she married the other!) and asteroid Venetia at 19 Leo (trine the Sun), the site of her mega-wedding.  That Geoffroy/Amazone conjunction pretty much spells out “Jeff Bezos,” doesn’t it?

bezos mannequin
A helpful gondolier ferries the happy couple to their wedding – no, wait, that’s just some of the protest dummies that sprinkled Venice for the big weekend; with Uranus conjunct Venus, controversy and protest (both Uranus) regarding the outrageous displays of wealth (Venus) was perhaps to be expected

As well, Hera opposes asteroid Midas at 4 Cancer, and Geoffroy squares asteroid Fortuna at 10 Sagittarius.  This isn’t to say Lauren is a gold-digger (Midas, Fortuna), staking a marital claim (Hera) on Jeff Bezos (Geoffroy) as her goldmine of choice, but then again, it isn’t not saying that, either!

Asteroid Jeffers at 22 Virgo squares the Sun (again signaling prime importance) and conjoins Pluto at 27 Virgo – billionaire (Pluto) Jeff (Jeffers), anyone?   These trine both asteroid Briede at 20 Capricorn and Juno at 29 Capricorn, uniting two more marriage-themed points with her future husband’s name.  Jeffers also squares Venus at 18 Sagittarius, a recitative of that romantic spark in Bezos’ chart, and Geoffroy opposes Mars at 2 Pisces, adding sexual heat.

bezos protest
My sentiments exactly! (Though the couple did instruct “no gifts,” directing their guests to donate that cost to local charities.) Asteroid Briede (for “bride”) conjunct Pluto (ruling billionaires) opposed Mercury (news) in a T-Square with asteroid Venetia (Italian for Venice) portrays rabid media attention (Mercury) for this gathering of the super-rich (Pluto) at a wedding (Briede) in the northern Italian city (Venice)

The propensity for a famous, celebrity-studded wedding is seen in the exact conjunction of Jupiter (fame, celebrity) with asteroid Union at 0 Scorpio (a common euphemism for a marriage, and here atop Bezos’ natal Geoffroy at 1 Scorpio), which exactly opposes Bezos’ natal asteroid Briede at 0 Taurus (with that darned Fortuna popping up again at 5 Taurus!).

Howe’er it all transpires over the years, we certainly wish the Bezos-Sanchez union every happiness.  At least we know it won’t be fiscal hardship and squabbling over money that tears them apart!

Great piece and the asteroids were gobsmacking as usual. The expensive wedding was especially galling to many Canadians as days earlier, Trump had halted economic negotiations with Canada until our PM agreed to cancel a lousy 3% tax on the billions of dollars of profits that companies like Amazon, Facebook, Google etc. make off Canadians. There is something wrong when people around the world are starving and going without medical care while the rich put on such displays of conspicuous consumption. Thanks Alex!
