Alex's Asteroid Astrology

As ever, stories come whooshing over the transom, and fly right on by, with no time to deal with them properly in these hectic times.  We’ll try to play catch-up here, with yet another AAA version of an “omnibus bill,” compiling several small stories (and some big ones) in a comprehensive review of the doings of late.  Topics include the Hungarian elections, a shooting at a Mexican archeological site, and a federal investment in a failing airline.

HUNGARY FOR CHANGE

In a stunning landslide electoral defeat, Viktor Orban, Hungary’s illiberal autocratic Prime Minister, was swept away on a tide of popular disgust and discontent on 12 April 2026, after 16 years leading the central European nation.  Orban, a darling of the MAGA right, has been a blueprint for the second Trump administration’s scheme to erode American democracy and establish the sort of state one-party control over the judiciary, the press and business which he pioneered.  As Orban’s poll numbers began to crumble, US VP JD Vance was dispatched to Hungary to stump for him and shore up his chances, but Hungarians gleefully handed Orban his hat, with the opposition coalition picking up a supermajority in the parliament, and thus the ability to now roll back many of the changes instituted by the would-be dictator.

With the 22 Aries Sun conjoined by asteroids Hungaria 434 (named for the country) and Viktorov 1776 (for Viktor), all eyes were on Orban in the moment.   Solar connections simply promote visibility, for good or ill, and with this grouping joined by TNO Eris 136199 at 25 Aries, named for the Greek goddess of strife and discord, in a T-Square with Jupiter at 16 Cancer and asteroid Nemesis 128 at 18 Capricorn, noted as the bringer of ruin and destruction, often self-created, it was time for Orban (Viktorov) to confront the weight of the Hungarian people’s (Hungaria) massive discontent (Eris), resulting in a stunning political (Jupiter) defeat (Nemesis).  Additionally, a sesquiquadrate from Viktorov to asteroid Losse 340579 at 12 Virgo (phonetic match for “loss”) predicts his downfall.

Orban’s victorious opponent, Peter Magyar, is seen as asteroid Peter 1716 at 4 Pisces, conjoined Damocles 5335 at 8 Pisces and asteroid Pest 6817 (named for half of Hungary’s twin cities capital, Budapest) at 12 Pisces, opposed asteroid Hunnia 1452 (also named in honor of the Hungarian nation, founded by the Huns) at 9 Virgo, in a T-Square with asteroid Victoria 12 at 5 Gemini.  This signals a win (Victoria) for Magyar (Peter), acting as a looming threat (Damocles) to the current government (Pest) of Hungary (Hunnia).  As well, asteroid Buda 908 at 8 Aquarius, Budapest’s other half, conjoins Pluto at 5 Aquarius, indicating massive change and transformation, as well as alluding to the corruption and criminality (both Pluto keywords) rife in the Orban administration.

PYRAMID PANIC

On 20 April 2026, the peace of the Pyramid of the Moon at the Teotihuacan ruins outside Mexico City was shattered when a gunman aimed fire at a group of tourists, shooting indiscriminately into the crowd.  Julio Cesar Ramirez, 27, killed one and wounded 11 others before turning the gun on himself.  No specific motive for the attack has been established, other than Ramirez’ fascination with mass shootings in other countries, including the massacre at Columbine High School, which occurred 27 years earlier to the day.

Asteroid Cesaro 18489, a variant of the shooter’s first name, appears at station, turning direct from 8 Virgo less than a week after the incident, indicating a major crisis or turning point has been reached.  Cesaro is involved in a T-Square, opposed a pairing of Damocles 5335 and Martina 981, at 8 and 1 Pisces, with asteroid Teotihuacan 293477 on the fulcrum at 5 Gemini.  Damocles represents the looming threat or peril, hanging unseen above but about to descend at any moment, an appropriate marker of the position Ramirez rook atop the Pyramid of the Moon.  Martina represents the village of San Martin de las Piramides, closest town to the ruins, while asteroid Teotihuacan is named for them.

Asteroid Ramirez 3926 at 16 Aquarius squares asteroid Julia 89, feminine form of Julio, at 11 Taurus, and is trine the Moon at 14 Gemini, once again referencing the Pyramid of the Moon, his chosen vantage point.  While Ramirez is too wide in orb to be considered conjunct, asteroid Julia squares a conjunction of Pluto at 5 Aquarius, modern lord of death and planetary ruler of homicide, and asteroid Atropos 273 at 2 Aquarius, named for the mythic Greek Fate who severs the thread of life at death, connecting Julio Ramirez directly with themes of death and murder. Julia is also enmeshed in a Grand Trine Kite pattern, with trine aspects to asteroids Lachesis 120 at 18 Virgo, named for the Fate who determines the span of life, and Gunn 18243 at 14 Capricorn, phonetic match for “gun.” The String of the Kite is formed with Gunn’s opposition to Jupiter at 17 Cancer, providing Ramirez (Julia) his moment of fame (Jupiter) for his firearm attack (Gunn).

Not to be outdone, asteroid Mexico 10806 at 26 Gemini conjoins asteroids Osiris 1923 and Anubis 1912 at 25 and 27 Gemini, named respectively for the ancient Egyptian god of the dead, and the deity governing funerary rites, signaling a death in Mexico.  Julia is also exactly semisquare Mexico.  The Gemini stellium lies on the fulcrum of a T-Square with asteroids Lachesis at 18 Virgo and Rip 7711 at 19 Pisces, which acts as a death indicator in the form of the acronym RIP, “Rest In Peace,” a common tombstone inscription.

THE “SPIRIT” OF THE TIMES

One man’s socialism is another man’s crony capitalism.  On 22 April 2026, news broke that the government had offered sinking Spirit Airlines a $500 million lifeline, in exchange for up to 90% control of the transportation company once it emerges from bankruptcy.  The Trump administration has dipped its toes into the murky waters of government/private sector collusion before, committing $10 billion in federal funds to such companies as Intel, Nvidia, Westinghouse Electric, MP Materials, US Steel, and a host of rare earth element firms, including USA Rare Earth, Vulcan Element, Korea Zinc, Lithium America and Trilogy Metals.  In return, the government reaps a share of the profits, varying from 5-15%.  The enmeshment of federal and private funds creates a fertile field for all types of fraud and corruption, such as awarding of contracts and insider trading.

A conjunction of Venus at 28 Taurus, ruler of material assets, money, finance and banking, and Uranus at 29 Taurus, arbiter of shocks, upsets, controversy and boundary-smashing, heralded the announcement of the pending deal with Spirit.  The 2 Taurus Sun, recently entered into Venus’ ruling Sign, casts a spotlight on the transactional nature of the bailout.

The move represents yet more fallout from the recent union of Saturn at 8 Aries and Neptune at 2 Aries, separating now, but still with a few tricks up its sleeve.  The pairing suggests just the sort of erosion (Neptune) of boundaries (Saturn) between government and business (both Saturn) which the deal provides, with its inherent risk of fraud (Neptune).  Turbocharged into action by Mars at 9 Aries in the mix, the government puts the pedal to the metal, with Mercury at 11 Aries bringing news (Mercury) about the rescue (Neptune) deal pulling a transportation (Mercury) company (Saturn) out of bankruptcy (Saturn).

Right on cue, asteroid Spirit 37452 at 23 Leo, reflecting Spirit Airlines, made its direct station a week prior, on April 16th, indicating a major turning point for the company had been reached, for good or ill.  The recent surge in jet fuel prices from the disruption in oil supply due to the war with Iran seemed poised to push the struggling company over the brink, until the Trump administration’s eleventh-hour intervention.  Not surprisingly, Spirit conjoins asteroid America 916 at 17 Leo, mirroring the unholy alliance between the US and the beleaguered company.  Spirit also squares the telltale Venus/Uranus conjunction, tying Spirit Airlines’ fortunes directly to fiscal (Venus) rule-breaking (Uranus).

Underscoring the potential for corruption inherent in this type of collusion, the Sun at 2 Taurus is conjoined exactly by asteroid Swindle 8690 (to cheat, trick or defraud), anchoring a T-Square, with squares to asteroid Washingtonia 886 at 5 Leo, the US federal government, and asteroid Whitehouse 4036 at 1 Aquarius, the presidency, with Pluto at 5 Aquarius, ruling corruption and criminality.  Further evidence of the extreme fraud potentially to come is offered by Jupiter at 17 Cancer, which inflates, increases and exacerbates whatever it touches, conjoined asteroids Bilk 4425 at 15 Cancer, synonym of “swindle,” and Donn 4689 at 23 Cancer, indicating Donald Trump as the mover and shaker behind the “crony socialism” turn taken by the feds during his second administration.
