“I am the least racist person that you have ever met,” – candidate Donald J. Trump, interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, 9 December 2015

 

Donald Trump’s gift for hyperbole and unwitting comic self-commentary may be encapsulated in this quote, given just after the GOP presidential candidate had called for a complete ban on Muslims entering the US in 2015. Trump had kicked off his campaign months earlier with a diatribe against Mexican immigrants, whom he characterized as “criminals and rapists.” I guess the kindergarten taunt “takes one to know one” would be appropriate here, given Trump’s penchant for projection and schoolyard bully tactics.

 

Trump has a long history of racist acts, attitudes and statements, beginning with a racial housing discrimination lawsuit brought by the Justice Department in the 1970s, the first time Trump’s name appeared in The New York Times. In the next decade, Trump was taking out full page ads in the New York papers, excoriating the notorious “Central Park Five”, a group of young black men accused of the brutal rape of a white woman (later proved innocent via DNA evidence), for whose case he advocated for bringing back the death penalty.

 

As a casino owner in the ‘90s Trump paid fines for accommodating high rollers’ racial bias by removing black dealers from tables when they gambled, and accused some competing Native American Reservation casinos of being illegitimate, because “they don’t look like Indians to me.” Additional examples abound.

Of course Trump’s entrée into politics was via the Birther controversy, which alleged that the nation’s first black President, Barack Obama, wasn’t eligible to hold the office because he wasn’t born in the US. In addition to slandering Mexicans as a group and proposing to ban all members of a Faith, during his candidacy Trump suggested a judge who had ruled against him should recuse himself from a case solely because of his Mexican heritage, which he asserted affected his impartiality.

 

During his presidency, Trump’s racist forays have become routine, and lately have increased to fever pitch, as the President sees an appeal to white supremacists and bigots as his sole hope of reelection and avoiding a stiff jail sentence once he leaves the White House. From stereotyping a black reporter to pandering to white supremacists after they held a violent rally in Charlottesville, Virginia (saying there were “good people” on both sides), Trump‘s racist acts and attacks only increased after his 2016 election.

More recently, Trump tweeted that several black and brown members of Congress are “from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe” and that they should “go back” to those countries. The tweets, aimed at Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), demonstrate a common racist trope used against immigrants and minority groups when they criticize US policies, and of course completely ignore the fact that three of these women of color were born right here in America, one in the same city as Trump.

 

But on the last weekend of July 2019, Trump upped the ante yet again, in a series of withering broadsides aimed at another African American, Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Chair of the House Oversight Committee (which had just subpoenaed phone records from his daughter and son-in-law) and Baltimore, the city he represents. In these, Trump characterized Cummings himself as incompetent and corrupt, and Baltimore as “filthy”; a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” where “no human being would want to live.”

Is Trump a racist? Demonstrably so, based on his utterances – and it doesn’t truly matter if the sentiments Trump expresses are heartfelt or merely opportunistic, the result is the same. But can we prove it, astrologically?

 

Racism is hard to pin down in the traditional astrologic repertoire. Some point to Uranus, ruling foreigners and aliens; others ascribe it to Mars or Saturn, via their connections to intolerance. But if we look to asteroids, there are several additional points which might indicate racist tendencies, if properly placed in the nativity. For the purposes of this article, we’ll look to asteroids Black, Brown, Negron (for “negro”, Spanish for “black”), Maron (for “marron”, Spanish for “brown”), and Schwartz (German for “black”) to represent people of color; and Africa and Mexico as emblematic of geographic origins.

 

To begin with, both Uranus and Mars are pivotally located in the chart. Born 14 June 1946, Trump has Uranus at 17 Gemini, conjoined the 22 Gemini Sun, with Mars at 26 Leo astride the 29 Leo Ascendant. Uranus with the Sun depicts Trump’s volatility, his controversial utterances, his self-assessed “genius”, and the mental instability that is clearly increasing as the stresses of the presidency and his precarious legal position weigh on him. It may also describe him as a natural racist, one who feels very comfortable self-defining in that way. Mars on the Ascendant indicates his bluster, his bullying and aggression, his combative style as a self-proclaimed “counter-puncher”; some will see him as their champion. It can also indicate a highly visible appearance of intolerance.

So far, so good (or bad). What of those “minor” points? An astounding number find themselves in significant placement in the chart, and thus in Trump’s psyche, in ways which may make him more than typically susceptible to racial animus.

 

Asteroid Black at 19 Aries squares both Saturn and asteroid Nemesis, at 23 and 16 Cancer respectively. Trump sees blacks as adversaries, rivals, opponents, sources of downfall or ruin (Nemesis), something to be suppressed or oppressed (Saturn). Ironically, people of color may indeed prove to be Trump’s undoing in his 2020 reelection bid, if enhanced turnout, sparked by his clear racism, spurs record numbers of minority voters opposing him, as well as alienating suburban whites, disgusted by his intolerant rhetoric, who may vote for his opponent, or simply not vote at all.

Amazingly, both asteroid Brown and Maron, representing its Spanish-language equivalent “marron”, appear at station in Trump’s chart, indicating a deeply embedded impact on his psyche, a locus about which Trump’s thoughts and feelings coalesce. Maron turned direct at 5 Scorpio two days after Trump’s birth, with Brown following suit four days later; Maron in trine to Mercury doubles down on the effect with his thought processes, conveying an almost obsessive quality regarding brown faces. In addition, asteroid Toro, signaling bullying, aggressive behaviors, conjoins Brown from 21 Libra, also at its station. This naturally directs many of Trump’s worst violent and bellicose instincts towards people of color. Brown’s square to Saturn at 23 Cancer also indicates inherent fear of minorities for Trump, as well as his harsh, unfeeling attitudes and constant criticism of them.

 

There is yet another minority indicator at station in The Donald’s chart – this is asteroid Negron, for negro, at 27 Aquarius, granted further angular importance and impact by its conjunction with his 29 Aquarius Descendant. Its stationary posture reinforces the theme of race as pivotal to Trump’s psyche, a still point upon which his understanding of reality revolves. Its opposition to Mars at 26 Leo suggests an inimical stance toward dark-skinned persons, especially of African origin (as exemplified in his statements about “shithole countries”); the exact opposition to asteroid America at 27 Leo shows just how far removed from the American experience Trump assumes these individuals to be.

A further indicator of the strength of this assumption is the T-Square created from this polarity by asteroid Africa at 28 Taurus, itself angular on the 24 Taurus MC. Just in case we missed it with Negron/negro, the cosmos is smacking us over the head with an asteroid named for that race’s continent of origin. Joining this pattern is asteroid Schwartz, German for “black”, which at 1 Virgo conjoins the Ascendant/Mars/America grouping, making three minority-related points in all which have angular impact in Trump’s nativity, a truly stunning testament to the power of the minute to shape our character and thus, our destiny.

 

Last, but surely not least, is asteroid Mexico, which at 8 Cancer is an exact match for natal Mercury. No wonder Trump can’t stop talking about the Southern Border! It’s all he thinks about, those filthy, diseased, crime-ridden Latinos streaming across the Mexican frontier.

 

What of this latest round of racist Tweets? We’ve been blessed by Twitter before in our quest for presidential understanding; due to its timestamp feature we can isolate the exact moment a Trump thought disseminates to the Universe, and interpret his purpose from that window into his soul (assuming he has one). Trump’s anti-Cummings, anti-Baltimore tirade began with a series of three Tweets sent on Saturday, July 27^th, 2019, starting at 7:14 AM EDT, in Washington.

Mars at 16 Leo is rising on the 17 Leo Ascendant, repeating its placement and Sign in his natal chart, reiterating his tendency to lash out aggressively at others. Uranus at 6 Taurus has just crested the 8 Taurus MC, another indicator of volatility in the moment. A combination of asteroids Negron and Africa at 27 Taurus and 1 Gemini, both with the Moon at 2 Gemini, suggests an emotional response toward persons of dark skin descended from the Dark Continent, and their encroachment on Trumps’ natal asteroid Blarney at 5 Gemini pinpoints these diatribes as further examples of presidential bullshit. Note also that Africa has recently returned to its natal place, reactivating that pattern’s potential, while Negron conjoins it.

 

Asteroid Brown at 3 Leo with the Sun at 4 highlights people of color generally for the day, while asteroid Schwartz at 7 Sagittarius retrograde, in trine to the Sun and about to turn direct in less than a week, does the same. Asteroid Maron at 28 Virgo conjoins America at 26, both squared his natal Sun at 22 Gemini, a symbol of Trump’s antagonism towards the demographic “browning of America”. Within orb is asteroid Apophis at 18 Virgo, named for the ancient Egyptian personification of pure evil, exactly opposed Neptune at 18 Pisces. This depicts Trump’s exploitation (Neptune) of the issue of race (Maron), seeking to divide the country (America) for his own malign purpose (Apophis). Toro’s conjunction with Apophis from 11 Virgo shows bullying as his tactic of choice to accomplish this. In typical Trump projection style, he charges Elijah Cummings as both a bully and a racist, incompetent and corrupt.

 

Asteroid Cummings at 18 Libra fills in the answer to his particular choice of target at that time. Its square to asteroid Troemper and Saturn, both at 15 Capricorn, shows the conflict between them, the pressure the president is feeling from Cummings’ recent criticisms of conditions at the border, and his need to react harshly in turn (all Saturn keywords). Whitehouse at 23 Cancer with Mercury at 24 forms a T-Square and illustrates the source of the Tweet barrage (Mercury) as the Oval Office (Whitehouse). Their conjunction with Trump’s natal Saturn at 23 Cancer reflects on his job performance.

Asteroid Baltimore at 22 Sagittarius opposes asteroid NOT at 23 Gemini, conjunct Trump’s Sun, and T-Squares America – he makes it plain that his assessment of Baltimore, and specifically Cummings’ district, does NOT conform to his vision of America, with its rat and rodent infestation. Asteroid Ratte, for rat, appears at 2 Capricorn, at the Apex of a Yod, or Finger of Destiny, with inconjuncts to the Moon and Sun. Ratte is also conjunct Trump’s natal Whitehouse at 4 Capricorn and squared his Neptune at 5 Libra, as he describes his dystopian vision (Neptune) of the Maryland metropolis, from his perch in the Oval Office (Whitehouse). Asteroid Rodontia, closest to Rodentia, the order of mammals of which rats are a part, falls at 4 Scorpio, on the 8 Scorpio IC, opposing Uranus for his incendiary and controversial comments.

 

Natally, asteroid Baltimore at 21 Taurus conjoins the MC and Trump’s natal asteroid Lie at 17 Taurus, so it makes sense he’d spread false narratives (Lie) about that city, in a highly visible manner (MC). Natal asteroid Cummings appears at 13 Cancer, conjunct natal Nemesis and opposed transit Troemper, potentially making Elijah Cummings someone whom Trump has reason to fear, with the ability to bring him down.

 

If the placements and patterns described above don’t definitely confirm Trump’s inherent racist bent (though I would suggest they do), they certainly point to the inordinate importance of race in his psyche and biography. And nobody can argue with that.
