Aaron Rodgers: Down & Out
On Monday, 11 September 2023, the New York Jets pro football franchise saw half of their $75 million investment evaporate when starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked just minutes into his first game with them, resulting in a torn Achilles tendon and the loss of the entire season. It was just August 1st when the two-year contract was signed, and the injury, coming at age 39 for Rodgers, could well signal the end of his career.
It was the fourth snap of the game when Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd tackled Rodgers, who went down awkwardly on his left side, tearing the Achilles tendon. Rodgers was helped from the field and sat out the game (which the Jets managed to win without him); an MRI the following day confirmed the injury, which sideline Rodgers for the 2023 season.
The time was 8:28 PM EDT at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Jets’ home field, and a chart cast for that time and place reveals the circumstances in bold celestial relief. There is no asteroid Aaron, but there are several CNAs (Compound-Name Asteroids, comprised of the first and last name strung together as one word, which can be separated and used for either) that approximate it, as well as an asteroid Aaronson 3277 and Rogers 7894 (alternate spelling of Rodgers). I have chosen two CNAs for this piece, asteroid Aaronrogers 13928 (for obvious reasons) and Aarongolden 11451 (representing Rodgers as the Jets’ new “golden boy,” seen as their best hope of pulling out of a 54-year slump since their last Super Bowl appearance in 1969).
Of these, it’s Aarongolden that shows the most impact; at 16 Capricorn, Aarongolden is at station (having turned direct on September 1st), cresting the 12 Capricorn Midheaven, the focus of all eyes, and in a T-Square, opposing asteroids Rogers, Nemesis 128 and Achilles 588 at 16, 20 and 26 Cancer, with centaur Chiron 2060 on the fulcrum at 18 Aries. With two personal markers for Aaron Rodgers combined with a point related to ruin or undoing (Nemesis), wounds (Chiron) and the torn tendon itself (Achilles), that’s really all you need to know.
But there’s more, of course. Achilles and Nemesis also oppose Pluto at 28 Capricorn, conjoined by asteroid Jett 45517 at 27 Capricorn, representing the devasting outcome (Pluto) for the Jets (Jett) in the destruction (Nemesis) of his Achilles tendon (Achilles). Born 2 December 1984 at 2:50 PM PST in Chico, California (Rodden Rating AA), Rodgers seems fated to have been a Jet at some point, with natal Aaronrogers at 23 Capricorn exactly opposed natal Jett at 23 Cancer. Note that this polarity aligns with the transit one that brought about his (literal) fall.
The Sun at 19 Virgo is conjoined by asteroid Aaronson at 14 Virgo, placing Rodgers in the spotlight for the timeframe. This pair opposes Neptune at 26 Pisces, ruling disappointments and disillusion (as well as the hospital to which Rodgers will now be heading), with asteroid Aaronrogers on the fulcrum of a second T-Square at 22 Gemini. The Sun exactly conjoins natal asteroid Karma 3811, implying a fated moment for Rodgers, one which was perhaps inescapable. The Sun is also exactly squared natal Jupiter at 19 Sagittarius, which for once didn’t provide the positive outcomes and luck with which we associate it, though its hand can be seen in the pro sports setting.
Speaking of settings, the location of a looming threat or danger is foretold in the natal chart by asteroid Rutherford 5311 (for the East Rutherford venue) at 3 Pisces conjunct natal Damocles 5335 at 28 Aquarius, indicating the unseen doom hanging overhead. Currently this pair is conjoined by transit Saturn at 4 Pisces, representing loss, and Karma at 2 Pisces, reiterating the theme that this was a predestined moment. Rodger’s natal Sun at 10 Sagittarius, with Uranus at 9 (ruling accidents, though I’m not sure if the intentional tackling of a quarterback can be considered an accident), feeds into this pattern by square.
Rodger’s natal Mars at 8 Libra conjoins natal asteroid d’Arrest at 7 Libra, a point indicating stoppage or cessation. Transit Mars at 9 Libra has just returned to its natal degree, reactivating its inborn potential, and bringing transit Rutherford in tow from 3 Libra, setting the scene for a probable termination (d’Arrest) of his sports (Mars) career at the MetLife Stadium (Rutherford). Mars also rules surgery, and its Return to its natal degree illustrates the various usages to which that energy can be put.
Rodger’s natal Achilles at 6 Aquarius was opposed by transit asteroid Leonardo 3000, for Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd, who sacked him. Natal Leonardo at 28 Cancer is currently being opposed by Pluto (devastating loss) exactly, bound up in that transit Achilles/Nemesis placement, with natal Leonardo also squared by natal Pluto at 0 Scorpio, for a restatement of the theme. Quite remarkable to see the source (Achilles, via the eponymous tendon) of Rodgers’ downfall (Nemesis) so intimately tied to its cause (Leonardo), fulfilling the latent potential from birth.
Natal asteroid Aaronson at 16 Leo was cojoined by the transit Moon at 15 Leo for the injury, with the Moon ruling health generally, while natal asteroid Rogers at 26 Scorpio is opposed by transit Uranus at 22 Taurus, ruling accidents and the unexpected. Natal asteroid Aaronrogers at 29 Sagittarius not only cojoins Neptune at 28 Sag, but is also currently squared by transit Neptune at 26 Pisces, for a double dose of that “disappointment/hospitalization” vibe.
This could well be a career-ending moment for Aaron Rodgers, and that potential is vividly portrayed in the skies, as always.

Wow as usual! You do make a good case for fatalism! I’m not converted yet but you do make me wonder! Thanks Alex!
