98th Academy Awards Preview, Part Four:  Best Supporting Actress

We’ve got a fairly full cosmic field in the race for the Best Supporting Actress award, but Wunmi Mosaku (“Sinners”) is scratched at the starting post, with no celestial referent.  Of those remaining, there is one referent each, asteroid Ella 435 for Elle Fanning (“Sentimental Value”), asteroid Inge 2494 for Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (“Sentimental Value”), Amy 3375 for Amy Madigan (“Weapons”) and Taylor 2603 for Teyana Taylor (“One Battle After Another”).  As with Best Supporting Actor, the circumstance of having two performers nominated in the same category for roles in the same film tends to split the voting and reduce the chances of success.

But we have to start somewhere, so let’s begin with the dual entrants from “Sentimental Value.”

Asteroid Ella on Oscar Night falls at 20 Gemini, squared the 25 Pisces Sun of the event (chart cast for 4 PM PDT 15 March 2026, Los Angles, CA), putting Elle Fanning square in the spotlight, a good place to be under the circumstances.  Ella is also sextile asteroid Oskar at 19 Aries, providing the opportunity for additional mantelpiece décor.  Sextiles are by no means determinative, but the extra link can’t hurt.

Elle Fanning may find “Sentimental Value” in her Academy Award nomination, and with asteroid Ella squared the spotlighting Sun on Awards Night, it could produce Oscar gold, with natal asteroid Oskar conjoined by the Moon for the ceremony

Born 19 April 1998 (no time available), Elle Fanning doesn’t stand out celestially as Oscar material.  In fact, she has the least impressive natal chart of the four, from that perspective.  But perhaps significantly, natal Oskar at 20 Aquarius will be encroached upon by the Awards’ 16 Aquarius Moon, and it fits into a “winning” T-Square that night, comprised of asteroids Victoria 12 at 25 Taurus opposed Nike 307 at 28 Scorpio, with asteroid Academia 829 on the fulcrum, at 22 Leo, opposed natal Oskar.  Victoria is named for the Roman goddess of victory, Nike is named for her Greek precursor, and Academia stands in for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which sponsors the awards.

The problem is that Oskar isn’t especially well-connected in the birth chart itself.  There’s a broad conjunction with Uranus at 12 Aquarius, not a typically helpful energy, and a trine to asteroid TRIUMF 14959 at 16 Gemini (named for an acronym of a Canadian science research facility, but acting reliably as its phonetic match “triumph,” meaning an unqualified success), and that about sums it up.  Natal Pluto and asteroid Academia conjoin exactly at 7 Sagittarius, which could suggest a transformative experience (Pluto) related to the Academy (Academia), but again, it’s not well-integrated in the chart.  There’s an inconjunct to natal Victoria at 9 Cancer, and a trine to Mercury at 9 Aries, ruling the voting process.

This is her first Oscar nomination, and we can see why this role attracted attention, with natal asteroid Ella at 27 Pisces conjoined asteroid Rachele at 0 Aries, here representing her role as Rachel Kemp in “Sentimental Value.”  When asteroids which represent a particular role are connected to the Sun or an actor’s own PNA (Personal-Named Asteroid), they afford an opportunity to portray the character with a genuineness and authenticity that often garners praise and can lead to a nomination, even a win.   As it turns out, natal Rachele is exactly conjoined by the current Saturn/Neptune conjunction, which could signal loss (Saturn) and disappointment (Neptune), but just might work out here as an expression of peer recognition (Saturn) in the film industry (Neptune).

Elle Fanning could have a cosmic ace in the hole, however, with her natal Saturn/Sun conjunction at 24 and 29 Aries conjoined the MC of the Awards, Saturn exactly, and also conjunct Oskar at 19 Aries.  The 25 Pisces transit Sun is also strategically placed to illumine natal Jupiter (luck, fame) at 17 Pisces, Nike (victory) at 18 Pisces, Ella and Rachele.  Transit Rachele at 15 Sagittarius is trine transit Oskar.

Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas is also nominated for “Sentimental Value,” and the common wisdom says she’ll split the vote with her costar Fanning, and neither will win; but the cosmos offers asteroid Inge squared asteroid Oskar for the Awards, and a natal chart focused on a solar Grand Trine including stationary asteroids Oskar and Agnes, for the character she portrays

Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (try saying that ten times fast!) is seen as asteroid Inge, which at 25 Capricorn is exactly sextile the Sun, also squared Oskar and the MC, and exactly trine Victoria at 25 Taurus, providing significant connection to vital energies of the day.  More to the point, she has an impressive natal resume for Oscar gold.

Born 9 April 1989 (no time available), Inga is nominated for her portrayal of Agnes Borg Pettersen in “Sentimental Value,” and has both natal asteroid Oskar and natal asteroid Agnes 641 at station, in a Grand Trine with her 19 Aries Sun, the same degree as the Awards’ Oskar.  Stationary points are like anchors of destiny, symbolizing persons, places, traits or things which will prove of outsized importance in the biography, exerting much greater influence than typically.

Add to this natal asteroid Peterson 5833 (alternate spelling of Pettersen) at 13 Libra, opposed the Sun, and we find PNAs matching both character names in aspect to the planet symbolizing her core essence.

Inga’s Oscar chances don’t stop there.  Natal Victoria and TRIUMF conjoin, at 5 and 6 Aquarius, opposed natal asteroid Actor 12238 at 5 Leo, with a T-Square formed with natal Nike at 12 Taurus.  That’s a lot of “winning” vibes connected with her profession!

Additionally, natal Academica at 21 Virgo is opposed by the Sun on Awards Night, and is squared natal Agnes.  Transit Agnes at 8 Aquarius joins the natal Actor T-Square, while transit Peterson at 25 Taurus exactly conjoins Victoria.  As of this writing, competitor Teyana Taylor is favored to win, but with Uranus right there at 28 Taurus, arbiter of the shock and upset, don’t count out Inga!

oscar preview 2026 BA4 taylor
Teyana Taylor (seen here in “One Battle After Another”) has already won a Golden Globe for her Oscar-nominated performance; with asteroid Taylor conjunct Mercury (the vote), opposed asteroid TRIUMF (phonetic match for “triumph”) Academy voters may feel further accolades are in order

Speaking of Teyana Taylor, her nominated character in “One Battle After Another” sports one of the funniest names I can recall:  Perfidia Beverly Hills (for which she has already won a Golden Globe).  For Taylor’s sake, we can hope that Academy voters aren’t perfidious, because asteroid Taylor at 7 Pisces conjoins Mercury at 9 Pisces, ruling voting, her only connection to the evening.  Mercury exactly opposes asteroid TRIUMF at 9 Virgo, but before we make any snap judgments, recall that several nominees share that Mercury linkage, and not everyone can win.  (Among the PNAs clustered around Mercury that night are Leonardo and Rosa in conjunction (for fellow nominees Leonardo di Caprio and Rose Byrne) and Michelle, Hawke and Amy in square (for Michael B. Jordan, Ethan Hawle and Amy Madigan), and Renate opposed (for Renate Reinsve); still, the proximity of so many nominees to a planet ruling voting only further endorses astrology’s unnerving synchronicity.)

Natally, Teyana Taylor doesn’t exactly scream “Oscar winner!” but there’s a strong ability to project to the back of the house there.  Born 10 December 1990 (no time available), there is a broad conjunction between Academia at 25 Capricorn and Oskar at 5 Aquarius, with Oskar opposing a stationary asteroid Taylor at 9 Leo, and Academia exactly squared natal Nike at 25 Libra, in a T-Square with Victoria at 29 Cancer.  That’s impressive, for sure, but I’m not convinced that it trumps Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas’ Solar Grand Trine.

Asteroid Hill (for her role) doesn’t connect with the Sun, but it’s widely squared Taylor, and exactly conjunct Pluto at 18 Scorpio, perhaps offering a tour de force, genuine performance.  As well, transit Hill at 27 Gemini squares the transit Sun, potentially placing her in the spotlight on Awards Night.

oscar preview 2026 BA4 madigan
I couldn’t in good conscience use just a photo of Madigan in her Aunt Gladys role from “Weapons,” the makeup was so extreme! Transit asteroid Amy is trine asteroid Oskar on Awards Night, and squared Mercury, with asteroid Gladys at station, trine Mercury, giving her a decent shot

That leaves Amy Madigan, nominated as Aunt Gladys in “Weapons.”  I’d rate Madigan’s innate chances of winning an Oscar at some point in her career as “fair to middling,” based largely on a helpful conjunction of two natal asteroids at station:  Victoria and Actor.  At 5 and 11 Taurus respectively, these could point to an Oscar win, with Actor squared Oskar at 15 Leo (Victoria being at the very periphery of that square orb).  Oskar itself conjoins Pluto at 18 Leo, for a potentially transformative moment associated with the Academy Awards.

As well, Victoria/Actor trines a Venus/Nike conjunction at 1 and 5 Virgo, opposed by “booster” Jupiter at 0 Pisces.  Madigan has already had a shot at this same award, nominated forty years ago in 1986, but these natal aspects weren’t strong enough then to pull it out for her.  And I suspect that will be the case again, with perhaps the least impressive Oscar Night placement for her referent, compared to the rest.

At 13 Sagittarius, asteroid Amy squares Mercury at 9 Pisces, so we see why she’s in the voting mix, but so many nominees share that connection, it’s hard to feel it’s determinative for anyone in particular.  Beyond that, there is a trine to asteroid Oskar at 19 Aries, but Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas also have connections from their PNAs to this point.

There may be salvation in asteroid Gladys 3909, which at 15 Scorpio is stationary, trine Mercury and widely trine the Sun.  Gladys turns retrograde two days later, on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, and with Madigan a solid Gaelic surname, perhaps the luck of the Irish will pull out the win for her.  Gladys also squares the 16 Aquarius Moon, but is just a mite too wide to really enjoy the “winning” T-Square.  Natal Gladys at 21 Scorpio conjoins Mars at 20, and TRIUMF at 26 Scorpio, and is just at the edge of orb for opposition to natal Actor.  These suggest energy (Mars) applied to a victory over rivals (TRIUMF) in an acting competition (Actor), with a role involving Gladys.  There’s also a sextile to the natal Sun at 18 Virgo, so authenticity in the role is a probable positive factor.

The transit Sun at 25 Pisces on Awards Night opposes her natal Sun, Saturn, Mercury combo, at 18, 22 and 29 Virgo, and natal asteroid Amy at 26 Aries conjoins the Awards’ MC at 24 Aries, and Oskar at 19 Aries.  Natal Mars, Gladys and TRIUMF are pulled into the “winning” T-Square, as is natal Pluto at 18 Leo, conjoined transit Academia.

Certainly this gives Madigan a shot at victory, but in a case like this, everybody has that potential, or they wouldn’t be nominated in the first place!

My pick?  Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, with Amy Madigan a close second.

But if history is any guide, I’m probably wrong, with all my 2026 Oscar picks.  What else is new?
